A screen that turns anywhere

The 1.03 MP vari-angle touch LCD covers the selfie position and ground-level shots. Active Mode stabilisation additionally steadies the image while walking.

Streaming without extra software

The camera identifies itself as a UVC and UAC device, so over USB it is a webcam with audio and no drivers. Wi-Fi on 5 and 2.4 GHz plus Bluetooth move the files to a phone.

Over an hour of 4K/60p without a break

Improved heat dissipation allows more than an hour of continuous 4K/60p recording. Anyone filming lectures, ceremonies or interviews does not have to break the take into pieces.

Excellent Image Quality
Thanks to the new 33MP Exmor R CMOS sensor, it offers outstanding image quality, sensitivity expandable up to ISO 50–204,800, and a dynamic range of 15 EV. The result is smooth transitions, detailed, delicate textures, and low noise levels. Plus, with Creative Look settings, it’s easy to create original shots, whether in photo or video mode.

Powerful AF System
The BIONZ XR processor, carried over from the top-of-the-line Alpha 1, ensures a high-performance autofocus system for continuous shooting at speeds of up to 10 fps with automatic focus and exposure control. The phase-detection system tracks 759 points across an area covering approximately 94% of the image frame. For the first time ever, the Real-time Eye AF system is also capable of tracking the eyes of animals, including birds, in both still and video modes. Compared to the Alpha A7 III, the accuracy of human face and eye detection has also been improved.

Comfortable Video Recording
The Alpha A7 IV builds on Sony’s many years of experience as a leading innovator in video recording, offering features such as the S-Cinetone picture mode adopted from the Cinema Line series (Venice, FX3/6/9...). In Super 35mm mode, you can shoot at resolutions up to 4Kp60, and in Full Frame mode at up to 30p. Smooth rendering of transitions is ensured by 4:2:2 (10-bit) color sampling, while recording in the XAVC S-I intra-frame format or XAVC HS with more efficient compression facilitates easy editing of the captured footage. When paired with Sony E-mount lenses, the A7 IV also offers a new Breathing Compensation feature to minimize “breathing” (changes in the angle of view during focusing) and improved AF Assist technology.

The camera also features a 5-axis image stabilization system, improved ergonomics, a CFexpress Type A media slot, a 3.65MP OLED viewfinder with 1.6 times the resolution of the Alpha 7 III, and continuous 4Kp60 video recording for over an hour thanks to improved heat dissipation. Videographers can also take advantage of the “Active Mode” stabilization mode, the rear 3-inch 1.03MP touchscreen LCD, and high-capacity Z-series batteries.

Connectivity
In line with growing demands for real-time communication, the Alpha A7 IV offers a wide range of technologies for streaming and sharing media without compromising image or audio quality. Connecting to the Imaging Edge Mobile app is made easy via Bluetooth, while support for 5GHz/2.4GHz Wi-Fi ensures high data transfer speeds. A new feature is “Shot Mark,” which allows for easy navigation through user markers within video sequences, both directly in the camera and in the Sony Catalyst Browse/Prepare software. Also new are features for easy live streaming without dedicated software, including support for the UVC (USB Video Class) and UAC (USB Audio Class) standards.
