Sony FE 8–14 mm f/3,5 Fisheye G (E-mount)

Sony's first fisheye zoom for E-mount. A single lens covers everything from a circular fisheye at 8 mm to a diagonal one filling the whole frame at 14 mm. A 180° angle of view, f/3.5 maximum aperture, focus from 15 cm and a weight of just 314 g — compact enough for everyday shooting and for professional work.

Versatile fisheye expression

The very wide 180° angle of view takes in a whole space, and the 8–14 mm zoom range runs from a full-frame circular fisheye at 8 mm to a diagonal fisheye filling the frame at 14 mm. You can pick exactly the angle a scene calls for and use the distortion as a means of expression rather than a side effect.

Clean, sharp images with minimal chromatic aberration

ED (extra-low dispersion) glass and aspherical elements in a new optical design hold high resolution and minimal chromatic aberration right across the frame. A minimum focus distance of 0.15 m and 0.22× maximum magnification open up dynamic close-up perspectives with smooth background bokeh in both stills and video.

Fast autofocus and intuitive manual focus

The linear-motor focus drive is fast and quiet, so no lens noise or vibration reaches the audio track. The lens design suppresses focus breathing, which shows in how smooth the footage looks. Manual focus has a linear response — the ring answers exactly as far as you turn it.

Mobility, handling and reliability

The compact, light build suits compact bodies and balances well; you can shoot one-handed or from a gimbal. Focus, zoom and aperture rings give direct control, and the zoom-lock and focus-mode switches keep settings put. Dust- and moisture-resistant construction and a fluorine coating on the front element add reliability in demanding conditions.

Natural spatial rendering for 3D and VR

The 63.1 mm diameter makes this a sound choice for shooting 3D VR content in a two-camera rig. The left and right lenses can be set about 64 mm apart, matching typical human interpupillary distance, so space is reproduced naturally and with convincing depth.
