Sony FE 16-25mm F2.8 G

The Sony FE 16-25mm F2.8 G is a compact, lightweight ultra-wide zoom for full frame with a constant F2.8 aperture across the whole 16–25 mm range. It is an ideal companion for travel, landscape, architecture, interiors, street photography and video – for example with the α7C II, α7CR, ZV-E1 or α7 IV. Two linear motors focus quickly and quietly and keep up with fast burst shooting and 4K 120p video. .

Constant F2.8 in a 409 gram zoom

The 16–25 mm range covers landscapes, interiors and vlogging, yet the lens measures just 74.8 × 91.4 mm. Engineering-plastic parts cut weight and add durability.

Controls right on the lens

Separate focus, zoom and aperture rings. The aperture ring click stops can be switched off, and beside it sit a customisable focus hold button and the AF/MF switch. Linear Response MF makes manual focus immediate.

Built for video too

The barrel barely extends when zooming and the centre of gravity barely shifts, so the lens is easy to balance on a gimbal or drone. With in-body Active Mode stabilisation you get steady footage even while walking, and the lens supports focus breathing compensation.

Sharp at every focal length

Three ED elements and four aspherical elements, one of them ED aspherical, keep resolution high from 16 to 25 mm and suppress flare, ghosting and colour fringing. F2.8 with eleven aperture blades gives the soft bokeh of the G series.

Two linear motors

Focusing is fast, precise and quiet. Tracking keeps up even with the α9 III at 120 fps and with 4K 120p or Full HD 240p video.

Close-up focusing

At 16 mm it focuses from 0.17 m at 0.23× magnification in MF, and from 0.18 m at 0.20× with AF.

Sealed and fluorine coated

The build resists dust and moisture, and the front element carries a fluorine coating against water and grease.

67 mm filter

A standard 67 mm thread for polarising, ND and UV filters; the ALC-SH178 lens hood is included.
