The Sony FE 85mm f/1.4 GMlens isa professional high-speed portrait lens equipped with a Sony E-Mount bayonet belonging to the new professional GM (G Master) series. It is designed for Sony NEX/ALPHA compact system cameras (CSC) with both Full Frame and APS-C sensor sizes. The lens has a focal length of 85mm (127.5mm when mounted on APS-C Sony NEX/ALPHA compact system cameras), a state-of-the-art GM optical system, a high aperture of f/1.4, an 11-blade molded diaphragm for perfect background blur (bokeh), a fast ultrasonic autofocus motor, and a durable sealed aluminum alloy construction. The optical system can focus from as close as 80cm and provides 0.12x image magnification. It consists of 11 lenses arranged in 8 groups. The angle of view of the lens is only 29° at a focal length of 85mm. When mounted on Sony NEX/ALPHA compact system cameras with an APS-C size sensor, it offers a focal length of 127.5 mm with a 19° angle of view. The lens has an exceptionally high aperture of f/1.4, and for creative work with depth of field, you can stop down to f/16. The lens is equipped with a fast autofocus system based on a quiet circular ultrasonic focusing motor. The lens's high-quality optics are housed in a barrel made of lightweight and extremely strong aluminum alloys. Its mechanical construction is very robust and professionally sealed against dust and moisture entering the lens. The lens weighs 820g and measures 89.5 x 107.5mm. The front of the lens has a thread for classic 77mm circular filters, which does not rotate, making it easier to use graduated and polarizing filters.
