The optics of the FE 24 mm F1.4 GM use thirteen elements in ten groups. Among them are two extreme aspherical XA elements and three ED elements with very low dispersion. The XA elements suppress internal reflections, so point light sources render as points rather than smeared discs — which is why astrophotographers reach for this 24 mm.

Nano AR Coating cuts veiling flare and ghosting against the light. In landscape work, with the sun in the frame or just beside it, that is the difference between a clean frame and a pale patch in the middle of it.
