RGBlink mini-max

The RGBlink mini-max is a compact 4K all-in-one video switcher and streaming solution designed for professional live production, offering HDMI, 12G-SDI, USB-C/UVC, and NDI video inputs, integrated PTZ camera control, advanced audio mixing, and high-quality streaming and recording capabilities in a portable hardware unit.

The mini-max is built for conferences, lectures, corporate events, sports coverage and studio broadcasts – anywhere one operator handles cameras, audio, graphics, recording and streaming at the same time. It brings all of that into a single desk with a touchscreen and physical controls.

A complete 4K control room in one unit

The mini-max builds on the mini-edge series and adds true 4K operation: two broadcast 12G-SDI inputs join the HDMI 2.0 inputs, and the program leaves in 4K60 – to a monitor, to recording and to the stream. The 5.5-inch touchscreen shows the multiview and menus, while physical buttons, the T-bar and the joystick stay at hand. The whole unit measures 291 × 223 × 70 mm and weighs 1.48 kg.

At a glance

Six input channels, two HDMI outputs, two USB-C ports and a network port with NDI | HX2. Each of the two HDMI channels selects between two connectors, so four HDMI sources stay connected to the switcher and no cables need to be swapped.

Six inputs including 12G-SDI

Channels 1 and 2 each select one of two HDMI 2.0 connectors (HDMI 1/2 and HDMI 3/4), channels 3 and 4 are 12G-SDI inputs on BNC for professional cameras and longer runs – 12G-SDI carries the signal up to 60 m. Channels 5 and 6 accept a USB camera (UVC), an NDI | HX2 source from the network or the media player; when UVC is enabled, the other one is reserved for NDI. HDMI and SDI inputs accept up to 2160p60.

Preview, program and multiview

HDMI output 1 feeds a monitor with the 1080p60 multiview – preview, program and inputs with audio meters – and can also be switched to an AUX output. HDMI output 2 carries the program in up to 4K60; the same picture goes to the USB webcam, the RTMP stream and the NDI output. Preview and program sources are selected with buttons or directly on the touchscreen.

Recording to USB, several channels at once

The program is recorded in up to 4K60 at up to 32 Mb/s to a USB flash drive (up to 128 GB) or an SSD (up to 2 TB) formatted as exFAT. Drop the program recording to 1080p60 and add three inputs as separate files for editing later. In total it handles 1× 4K60, 2× 4K30, 1× 4K30 + 2× 2K60 or 4× 2K60. Recording also runs while streaming.

Streaming without a computer, or as a webcam

Over Ethernet the mini-max streams directly to up to four RTMP(S) platforms at once, and with the integrated TAO Cloud to up to 32 platforms simultaneously. Connected over USB-C it appears on the computer as a 4K UVC webcam, so the program can be used in OBS, Zoom or Teams. Streaming to four platforms at once needs an upload of at least 100 Mb/s.

Mixer-grade audio

Two XLR/6.35 mm combo inputs for microphones (MIC 1 with 48 V phantom power), a 6.35 mm line input, Bluetooth and embedded audio from four HDMI/SDI inputs – eight channels in the mix. Audio can follow video (AFV), microphones and cameras can be delayed to stay in sync with the picture, and level, mute and monitoring are set with the knobs on the panel. Outputs: 6.35 mm line and 3.5 mm jack.

Layers, picture-in-picture and graphics

Build a scene from two full video layers over a background image and add two graphic overlays from the media pool – lower thirds or a logo. Both video layers can be scaled, positioned and cropped, so picture-in-picture, two sources side by side or a presenter in front of graphics are set up without a computer. One tap also switches the output to vertical 9:16.

Chroma key and luma key

Key out a presenter in front of a green or blue background right on the switcher, without an app: pick the colour from the list and fine-tune the tolerance on the touchscreen. The web app can key any colour. Luma key is also available, and keying settings are saved with the preset scenes.

Transitions and saved scenes

Switch between preview and program with a cut (CUT), an automatic transition (AUTO) or the T-bar; besides the mix, the mini-max offers a range of DVE effects with adjustable duration. Up to 10 preset scenes store the complete setup – layer layout, sources, keying, graphics, audio and even the position and focus of PTZ cameras – and are recalled with a single button in the VIEWS row.

PTZ camera control from the switcher

PTZ cameras on the same network are controlled directly from the mini-max via IP VISCA: the joystick pans and tilts, the toggles on the panel handle zoom and focus. Camera positions are stored in the preset scenes, so moving to the next shot takes a single press. When a video layer is being controlled, the joystick positions, scales and crops it.

Remote control and TAO Cloud

The mini-max can also be operated from the web app on a laptop, tablet or phone – sources, the broadcast and settings stay under control even when you are away from the switcher. RGBlink TAO Cloud manages streams and devices remotely, and the open RGBlink control protocol (OpenAPI) is available for integration into larger systems.
