Full-frame 6K camera with 13 stops, 12G-SDI, Blackmagic RAW and two CFexpress Type B slots.

Side plates and mounting points let you build a compact camera for studio, handheld, crane or gimbal work. The EF version uses an active locking mount for compatible Canon photo and cinema lenses.
The 36 × 24 mm sensor supports Open Gate 3:2, 6:5 anamorphic and Super 35 modes. Dual native ISO 400/3200 and 13 stops help retain detail in highlights and shadows.

The Blackmagic PYXIS 6K is a next-generation digital film camera featuring a versatile “modular” design, so you can build the ideal camera for your production! The model features a 36 x 24 mm 6K sensor with 13 EV dynamic range and two CFexpress media slots, all in a customizable body.
Thanks to multiple mounting points and side plates for accessories, it’s easy to configure the Blackmagic PYXIS camera to suit users’ needs. The camera’s compact body is made of machined aircraft-grade aluminum, making it lightweight yet extremely sturdy. Users can easily mount it on a variety of camera rigs, such as cranes, arms, or drones. In addition to several 1/4″ and 3/8″ threaded mounts on the top and bottom of the body, the Blackmagic PYXIS features a range of side plates that further expand mounting options for accessories such as handles, microphones, or even SSD drives.
The Blackmagic PYXIS is equipped with a full-frame sensor with a native resolution of 6048 x 4032—nearly three times larger than the Super 35 format—allowing users to shoot with a shallow depth of field or use anamorphic lenses without cropping for a true cinematic look. Whether users are shooting in bright sunlight or in near-darkness, the 13EV dynamic range with dual native ISO sensitivity up to 25,600 delivers stunning, low-noise images in all lighting conditions.
Utilizing the entire sensor area provides a unique 3:2 Open Gate image, which greatly simplifies post-production. The large sensor also allows you to work in true 6:5 anamorphic format without cropping, so wide-angle cinematic shots are more detailed and have higher resolution than was previously possible.
With three models available, users can choose between L-Mount, EF, or PL lenses, making the Blackmagic PYXIS compatible with a wide range of film and photographic lenses. The L-Mount model works with the latest full-frame lenses from Leica, Panasonic, and Sigma, but adapters can also be used, allowing users to utilize a wide range of both new and vintage lenses. The EF model allows users to use high-quality photographic lenses they already own from digital SLR cameras. The PL model, on the other hand, allows users to work with professional cinema lenses from Zeiss, ARRI, Cooke, and others without needing an adapter.
The Blackmagic PYXIS can shoot in all standard resolutions and frame rates, from HD to DCI 4K and even 6K. Users can also capture still images at 24.6 megapixels. Blackmagic PYXIS can shoot up to 36 frames per second at 6048 x 4032 3:2 Open Gate, or 60 frames per second at 6048 x 2520 2.4:1, and 60 frames per second at 4096 x 2160 4K DCI. For higher frame rates, users can shoot up to 100 frames per second at 2112 x 1184 Super 16.
The built-in LCD display is more than just a simple status display. It’s a 4-inch high-resolution touchscreen with HDR, which is also ideal for monitoring and reviewing footage on set. Its Full HD resolution means users can frame and compose their shots without having to carry a bulky external monitor. Users can also use the display as a focus assist station.
The Blackmagic PYXIS features an intuitive design that puts important functions—such as ISO, WB, and shutter speed—at your fingertips via both the touchscreen and physical controls. A set of three customizable function buttons means users don’t have to navigate through menus on a small screen to find the command they need. The controls can even be locked to prevent accidental changes to settings while shooting or when the camera is out of reach.
Innovative side plates further expand the camera’s versatility within a rig. The standard plate included with the Blackmagic PYXIS camera is made from the same aircraft-grade aluminum as the camera body and features two 1/4″ threaded mounts and one 3/8″ threaded mount, allowing users to add microphones, mounts, or other accessories. Alternatively, users can attach the included SSD plate, which provides a convenient spot to securely connect a USB-C drive for recording or even a smartphone for live streaming.
The Blackmagic PYXIS records in Blackmagic RAW to preserve control over detail, exposure, and color during post-production. It also records HD H.264 proxy files in real time, making it easy to share media. This means footage always retains unprecedented resolution and quality for color grading, keying, compositing, reframing, stabilization, and tracking in HD, 4K, or 6K.
The Blackmagic PYXIS features two built-in CFexpress card recorders and a USB-C expansion port for recording directly to external flash drives or SSDs. CFexpress cards are more durable and faster than previously used media, making them ideal for recording full-resolution 12-bit Blackmagic RAW files. Additionally, thanks to the two CFexpress slots, users can continue recording by swapping out full cards on the fly without interruption.
In addition to recording to the camera’s native media, Blackmagic PYXIS also supports the creation of a small H.264 proxy file. This means that the small proxy file can be uploaded to Blackmagic Cloud in a matter of seconds, making the media available back in the studio in real time. The ability to transfer media directly into a DaVinci Resolve bin while editors are working is revolutionary.
When uploading to Blackmagic Cloud, users can use an Apple or Android phone to connect to the internet via mobile data. Simply connect the phone to the USB-C port, and the Blackmagic PYXIS will configure itself for mobile data. Users can also connect via wired Ethernet using the camera’s Ethernet port. This allows users to transfer media while shooting, so post-production teams anywhere in the world can start working in real time.
The Blackmagic PYXIS supports the optional Blackmagic URSA Cine EVF, which enables precise and easy outdoor and handheld shooting. Users get an integrated, high-quality 1920 x 1080 OLED color display with a built-in proximity sensor and a glass diopter for high precision with a wide range of focus adjustment.
The PYXIS model is equipped with a wide range of connections for audio, monitoring, power, and more. The camera includes a 12G-SDI output for monitoring with support for HDR and Ultra HD. Users can connect an SDI display to monitor the image on set, complete with on-screen information overlays that show the camera’s status.
The Blackmagic PYXIS has a built-in hardware streaming engine that supports RTMP and SRT streaming to YouTube, Facebook, X, and more. Users have two options for internet access: one is an Ethernet connection, or they can connect a 4G or 5G phone for mobile data. Since streaming is built into the camera, users can view the stream status and data transfer rate in the viewfinder and on the LCD screen.
