Quick release: the drive rides on the camera

The quick-release mount screws onto the camera, cage or arm and the drive clicks into it — firmly on the body while shooting, out with one move afterwards and off to the edit suite. IP68 and the rubber case protect against dust, water and drops; the drive withstands 50 G while running.

Data recovery and a 5-year warranty

Blackmagic cameras, the Fujifilm GFX100 II and Panasonic GH6/S5 IIX record straight to it over USB-C — no card, directly onto the drive for editing. Exascend backs it with a 5-year warranty and factory data recovery if files are deleted by mistake or the drive gets formatted.

The Exascend Gecko series of external SSDs is a variant of the Exascend Explorer models, but with a hot-shoe socket mount allowing the drive to be securely attached directly to cameras/camcorders/cages. In addition to high performance (thanks to a USB-C bus with transfer speeds up to 20 Gbps and spiky 3D TLC flash memory), it offers IP67-rated durability, a silicone case that can withstand up to 50 G, a 5-year warranty (or a maximum of 1500 TBW), and factory data recovery.
