A 33 MP sensor and BIONZ XR processor in a body that is 22 % lighter and 45 % smaller in volume than the A7 IV. For stills, sensitivity expands to ISO 204,800.

The screen turns to face you

The vari-angle monitor covers the selfie position and ground-level shots, so the compact body suits both the photographer and anyone filming themselves.

Controls on the top plate

Mode and exposure dials sit on top, where you find them without looking — on a body that fits a smaller bag than a typical full-frame camera.

The AI unit from the larger bodies

Real-time subject recognition is the same as in the A7R V and A6700 — focus stays on the subject even in motion. Five-axis in-body stabilisation steadies the shot where a tripod would otherwise be needed.

Sony microphones attach without a cable and the sound enters the body digitally, free of analogue input noise.

This new model is equipped with the same AI unit and BIONZ XR processor found in other current Sony interchangeable-lens cameras, such as the Alpha 7R V and Alpha 6700. Autofocus recognizes a wide variety of subjects in real time, and in-body 5-axis image stabilization ensures sharp shots even in challenging conditions. It also supports high-quality video recording (4:2:2, 10-bit) up to 4Kp60 resolution and Sony S-Cinetone profiles! It also offers in-body Active Mode image stabilization, support for a digital audio interface, and other advanced video recording features.
