XLR Adapter for α™ Cameras with 96 kHz / 32-bit floating-point recording – connect XLR microphones to your α camera and capture high-quality audio within the Sony ecosystem using 96 kHz / 32-bit floating-point recording that handles everything from whispers to sudden loud noises, reducing the need for gain adjustments and maximizing post-production flexibility.
32-bit float recording on compatible camerasprovidesa wide dynamic range and significantly reduces the risk of clipping when adjusting levels during editing. This makes post-production workflows more flexible and eliminates the need for precise gain adjustments during recording.
To maximize the performance of high-quality microphones, dual ADCs are used, combining two analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) operating at different gain levels to faithfully reproduce a wide dynamic range from extremely quiet to loud input sounds.
Using an XLR adapter equipped with a dual ADC, the captured sound is converted to 32-bit floating-point digital data, preserving the full dynamic range and allowing for greater flexibility in post-production without the need for precise gain adjustment during recording.
Supports 4-channel audio input, allowing simultaneous recording from multiple microphones to independent tracks for flexible editing. Backup channels with different gain settings and flexible input assignment to channels CH1–CH4 provide greater reliability and creative control.
Simply attach the XLR adapter to the Multi Interface (MI) Shoe™ of a compatible camera to get power and audio connectivity without batteries or cables. Support for Hi-Res Audio microphones and 96 kHz / 32-bit floating-point recording delivers high-quality, edit-resistant audio with independent 32-bit floating-point WAV recording.
A highly visible layout improves usability with OL (overload) indicators on each input for instant level monitoring. LOW CUT and ATT (attenuation) switches and manual gain controls are grouped on one side, allowing for flexible and intuitive setup of each output channel.
The included audio extension cable provides flexible mounting options. Even when used with a rack mount, it allows for adaptable installation, ensuring optimal layout for various recording environments.
The low-profile, reinforced construction ensures high durability for field use, while the low center of gravity reduces stress on the multi-interface (MI) socket. When used with the included audio extension cable reinforcement adapter, a stable and reliable mount is maintained even during extended operation.
The built-in USB Type-C port allows for direct connection to a computer and enables camera-free applications, such as studio recording and audio podcasts. The included mini tripod provides stability and flexibility.
The XLR adapter comes with a set of useful accessories, including a carrying case, mini stand, audio extension cable reinforcement adapter for the socket, the audio extension cable itself, and two protective connector caps.
