The Ulanzi FT16 combines two items that are typically used separately— a TTL system flash for Sony and a continuous LED light with adjustable color temperature. In TTL mode, it automatically controls exposure; in manual mode, it offers eight power levels ranging from 1/1 to 1/128. It has a guide number ( GN) of 16, recharges to full power in 1.8 seconds, and delivers up to 500 flashes per charge. The LED panel tilts from 0–90° independently of the flash, and magnetic filters can be attached without tools. The entire unit weighs 150 g.

You can switch between the three modes directly on the display: TTL measures the scene’s brightness and the subject’s distance and adjusts the power automatically; M lets you set the power yourself; CCT turns on the continuous LED light. The flash also provides an assist light for focusing, so you can focus even in a dark room.

In manual mode, you can select the power level in eight steps from 1/1 to 1/128. Flash exposure compensation ranges from ±3 EV in 1/3-stop increments, allowing you to fine-tune the fill light precisely to the scene.

The LED panel emits light in the 2500–6500 K range, and brightness is adjustable from 10% to 100%. You can match the light to your surroundings—warm under incandescent bulbs, cool by a window—and see the result before you even take the shot.

A color rendering index of 92 to 97 ensures accurate skin tones as well as the colors of food and products. You won’t have to correct for the green or purple cast that cheap LED lights often produce in your photos.

The package includes three magnetic attachments— a white diffuser for softening, and orange and yellow ones for a warm, cinematic cast. They snap onto the head and come off just as quickly.

The 7.4 V / 800 mAh (5.92 Wh) battery lasts for about 500 flashes at full power. It charges via USB-C in about 90 minutes. Rechearing between flashes takes 1.8–2 seconds at full power , and at settings of 1/16 or lower, the flash fires practically continuously.

The built-in optical sensor supports S1 mode (triggers with the first flash) and S2 mode (ignores the pre-flash and synchronizes only with the main flash). This allows you to set up multi-light setups without a radio system.

The flash measures 72.5 × 53 × 64.2 mm and weighs 150 g. The hot shoe locks into place with a single motion, without tightening a dial—you can remove it from the body in a second.
