RGBlink MSP 405

The RGBlink MSP 405 is a bidirectional 12G-SDI, HDMI 2.0 and fiber converter: it converts a signal from any input to both other outputs, with format and frame rate conversion, up to 2160p60. It has a 2.4-inch touch preview display, a test pattern generator and audio embedding and de-embedding. A battery plate for two camera batteries turns it into a standalone mobile unit.

The MSP 405 from the RGBlink mini converter range brings SDI, HDMI and fiber together in one small box. It fits in a camera bag, runs from batteries or USB-C and sends the signal over optical fiber on long runs.

Connectors

One side carries the 3.5 mm line audio input and output, the HDMI 2.0 input and output and USB-C power. The other side has the LAN port, a DIP switch, a BNC connector that serves as SDI input or output, and a slot for an SFP optical module with LC connector.

Conversion between SDI, HDMI and fiber

Any of the three inputs – 12G-SDI, HDMI 2.0 or fiber – is converted to both other outputs without quality loss and with automatic format adaptation. Over fiber the converter carries the signal up to 50 km on single-mode and up to 700 m on multi-mode fiber.

Format and frame rate conversion

During conversion it can scale resolution up or down and change the frame rate, so it links devices working to different standards. It handles 2160p and 1080p at 25 to 60 fps, 1080i and 720p at 50 to 60.

Touch display and test patterns

On top there is a 2.4-inch touch display that shows the input signal and gives access to the menu. The built-in generator sends standard test patterns to the outputs, which is handy during on-site setup.

Battery plate for two batteries

Two camera batteries fit on the plate (Sony F550/F750/F960, FM50/FM70/FM90, QM91D, Panasonic VBD1/VBD2, JVC V607U/V617U). When the primary battery runs low, the converter switches to the backup by itself; one battery lasts about 3 hours. Batteries are not charged in the converter.
