New firmware for Ninja and Shogun series: extended HDMI RAW support for multiple cameras

Firmware 11.14.00, now available as a free download, adds ProRes RAW over HDMI support for Sony a1 II, Panasonic AW-UB10, Leica SL3-S and the recently announced OM Systems OM-3 cameras. It is available for download for Ninja and Shogun devices

The new AtomOS firmware will support ProRes RAW recording over HDMI for the following camera models and resolutions for the Ninja and Shogun series:

SONY A1 II: 4332x2446 at 23.98, 25.00, 29.97, 50 and 59.94 fps

PANASONIC AW-UB10: 4096x2160 at 23.98, 25.00, 29.97, 50.00 and 59.94 fps

This latest update also allows Ninja and Shogun users to set the year up to 2037 in the settings menu.

Nikon today launched the new NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ lens, the first FX lens with the Nikon Z mount. Designed specifically for video to support independent videographers and small teams - it offers high resolution for in-camera 8K video recording and is light enough to work handheld. The lens design is optimized for exceptional quality results, making the lens a revolutionary piece of equipment for videographers using Nikon Z FX cameras such as the Z9 and Z8. The anticipated on-sale date is set for April 2025.

Along with the introduction of the new KOMODO-X and V-RAPTOR[X] cameras with Z Mount, RED has announced the return of its Trade-In program, which is now available for the latest generation of RED cameras, including the new Z Mount model. Customers can trade in their existing RED DSMC, RAVEN, SCARLET-W, DSMC2 or RANGER cameras and receive credit towards the purchase of a new RED V-RAPTOR XL [X] Pack or RED V-RAPTOR [X] Pack with the new Z mount or RF mount. Customers can get access to the latest DSMC3 technology this way. This promotion will run for a limited time from February 13, 2025 to August 13, 2025.

RED DIGITAL CINEMA has announced that its revolutionary V-RAPTOR[X] and KOMODO-X camera systems will now also be available with Nikon's prestigious Z mount, giving filmmakers maximum flexibility in lens selection and a complete image capture solution - from lens to sensor to codec. On the V-RAPTOR [X] and KOMODO-X cameras, Z mount lenses can provide filmmakers with enhanced sharpness, better aberration control and unmatched low-light performance, as well as autofocus performance.

The V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount and KOMODO-X Z Mount now include a native Nikon Z mount lock, bringing Nikon's latest optics innovations to the film market. The close collaboration between Nikon and RED brings Z lenses to the world of filmmaking with advanced features such as smooth aperture control, customizable lens response and adjustable autofocus speeds. The Nikon Z mount is compatible with even more lens systems thanks to third-party adapters .

The reinforced Nikon Z mount with locking mechanism maintains the flexibility to switch between different types of lens mounts, while providing the stability and rigidity that professionals need. The cameras are also fully compatible with upcoming PL lenses thanks to RED Z to PL adapters.

Along with the introduction of the KOMODO-X and V-RAPTOR [X] film cameras with Z mount, RED also launched 4 Z mount to PL mount adapters.

KOMODO-X/V-RAPTOR [X] Z TO PL ADAPTER PACK

TheRED Z to PL Adapter Pack provides a robust PL mount solution for the KOMODO-X Z Mount and V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount. The Z to PL Adapter supports Cooke /i lens communication and recording triggering, extending the functionality of a conventional Z mount for professional filmmaking use. The Z to PL Adapter, with its titanium core construction, is resistant to changes in ambient temperature, ensuring consistent and accurate back focus adjustment.

The V-RAPTOR Z to PL Adapter Pack includes V-RAPTOR PL Support Brackets to provide additional rigidity. KOMODO Z to PL Adapter Pack includes KOMODO Side Ribs in addition to PL Support Brackets .

KOMODO-X/V-RAPTOR [X] Z TO PL ADAPTER PACK WITH ELECTRONIC ND FILTER

TheRED Z to PL Adapter Pack with Electronic ND Filter integrates the same precision electronic ND control used in the V-RAPTOR XL into a robust PL mount solution for the RED KOMODO-X/V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount. Compared to the classic version of the Z to PL adapter, this pack has two extra filters: a clear filter for when an ND filter is not needed, and an electronic ND filter with a range of 2-7 feet. It offers precise control in 1/4, 1/3, or full foot increments, allowing you to choose the exact exposure you want without compromise.

The thickness of each clear and electronic ND filter is metered and paired to avoid back focus shift when switching between filters. The ND can be controlled using the integrated buttons on the electronic ND filter, the integrated top LCD (KOMODO-X)/side LCD (V-RAPTOR [X]), the DSMC3 RED Touch 7.0" LCD, RED Control, RED Control Pro, the web interface, or any other RCP2 compatible remote control. This allows easy access to exposure regardless of camera configuration.

As with the classic Z to PL Adapter pack, theV-RAPTOR variant includes V-RAPTOR Adapter Support Brackets to provide additional rigidity. The KOMODO Z variant includes KOMODO Side Ribs in addition to the PL Adapter Support Brackets .

Sales of the Z to PL adapters are scheduled for April 2025.
