The Tilta Khronos Universal Smartphone Case Base Kit turns practically any phone into a filming rig. The 70–90 mm clamping range fits most mainstream models, so when you change phones your rig stays the same. The cage frame carries a cold shoe, a NATO rail and several 1/4″-20 threads for lights, microphones and articulating arms.

The foundation of the Khronos ecosystem for any phone. The frame follows camera cage design — milled from aluminum alloy and finished with wave-shaped grooves that grip well even without a handle. The clamping adjusts across several axes, so it also copes with phones whose lens module protrudes noticeably.

The cage clamps phones 70 to 90 mm wide (2.75–3.5″), which covers most models from the major brands. The clamping adjusts across several axes, so the cage aligns to the height and protrusion of each phone's camera module. Wave-shaped grooves on both sides of the frame give a solid grip even without a handle, and when you change phones the whole rig stays the same.

Mounting points for lights and microphones

The frame carries a cold shoe, a NATO rail and several 1/4″-20 threads. A light or microphone goes on the cold shoe, a handle or the Arca-Swiss adapter slides into the NATO rail, and the threads take articulating arms or other brackets. A pair of cold shoe thumb brackets is in the box, so the first accessory goes onto the cage without tools — the included T6 Allen key covers the rest.

A foundation that grows

The Base Kit is the cage on its own and serves as the starting point. The cooling system, magnetic 58 mm filter tray holder, USB-C hub, handles and NATO/Arca-Swiss adapter are not included — they are sold separately or come bundled in the Creator Kit and Ultimate Kit. Every part of the Khronos Universal line fits this cage, so you build the rig up step by step according to what you shoot.
