The Tilta Khronos Universal Accessory Mounting Adapter is a tiny adapter that brings the Khronos quick release receiver to the camera cage. It screws to the cage with a single 1/4"-20 screw with locating pins, and Khronos accessories — side handles, for instance — click into it with their clamp, no tools needed. Switching between horizontal and vertical shooting is then a matter of seconds. Aluminium alloy and stainless steel, 10 g, recommended load up to 5 kg.

One screw, the whole Khronos system

The adapter mounts to the camera cage with a single 1/4"-20 flat head screw; two locating pins keep it from rotating. On top it carries the Khronos quick release receiver, into which the clamp of Khronos accessories — side handles and other parts of the series — clicks. The cage thereby gets the same interface as the Khronos phone cases.

Tool-free, horizontal and vertical

You change the position of the accessory almost instantly, without a multi-tool: press the clamp button, take it off, put it elsewhere. This pays off most when switching between horizontal and vertical shooting, when the handle travels from the side of the cage to the top or bottom. The recommended total payload on this connection is up to 5 kg (11 lb), so the adapter also serves smaller cinema cameras.

What is on the adapter

On top the Khronos quick release receiver, underneath a 1/4"-20 flat head screw and two 1/4"-20 locating pins — there is nothing more to this part. It measures 31 × 15 × 12.5 mm in total and weighs 10 g.

Khronos handle on the cage

With the adapter on the cage, the Khronos side handle behaves as it does on the phone case: it clicks in, holds and releases again with one press. The caged camera thus gains a handle that can be repositioned in the field in a few seconds.

The Tilta cage system
