Tilta Khronos iPhone 15 Pro Max Advanced Kit - Space Gray with battery

The Khronos Advanced Kit is an aluminium cage for the iPhone 15 Pro Max with a cooling module, a Focus PD handle and a filter tray with two ND filters. The case is fastened to the phone with four screws and accessories snap into locking clamps with electrical contacts, so power runs through the whole cage. The kit is machined for the iPhone 15 Pro Max — it does not fit the iPhone 15 Pro.

A filmmaking cage around the phone

The aluminium cage wraps around the iPhone 15 Pro Max and holds it with four screws. The Focus PD handle with its own battery snaps into the side clamp, the cooling module attaches magnetically to the back of the phone, and the filter tray with two ND filters swings down in front of the lenses.

Machined for the iPhone 15 Pro Max

The case is made for one model only. Its outer dimensions are 169.8 × 86.8 × 14 mm and the case alone weighs 83 g. The cut-outs line up with the buttons, the camera module and the USB-C port, which stays accessible. It does not fit the iPhone 15 Pro or older iPhones — Tilta makes a separate case for the iPhone 15 Pro (TK-IP15-PFC-SG).

Locking clamp and pass-through power

Accessories are not screwed on: press the release button, slide the pins into the clamp and let go. The cage has several mounting points around its edge, so a handle, a light or a hub moves in seconds. The clamps carry electrical contacts, so power from the battery in the Focus PD handle travels through the cage to the LED panel or the cooling module and no part needs its own supply.

What is in the kit

The box holds the case for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the Focus PD handle with battery, the cooling module, the quick release filter tray and two magnetic filters, FSND 0.6 and FSND 1.2.

Four equipment levels

Khronos for the iPhone 15 Pro Max comes in four kits. The case is the same in all of them; only what is packed with it differs.

Cooling and wireless charging

The cooling module attaches magnetically to the back of the phone over MagSafe with an N52 core and works with or without the cage. The fan draws 22 W, spins up to 6,700 rpm and the manufacturer quotes cooling down to 3.9 °C. Over MagSafe it also charges the phone wirelessly at 5 W or 10 W, drawing power either from the Focus PD handle through the contacts in the cage or from an external supply over USB-C.

Filters

The filter tray attaches magnetically to the case and swings down on a pivot over all three lenses at once. Khronos filters are magnetic and simply drop into the tray. FSND filters are full spectrum ND: they cut visible, ultraviolet and infrared light evenly, so colours stay clean. Black Mist and White Mist are diffusion filters that soften the image and bloom the highlights.

Mounting interfaces

A cold shoe, a NATO rail, an adjustable handle with 1/4″-20 threads and a 38 mm Arca-Swiss adapter all snap into the cage clamps; Tilta sells them separately. The Arca-Swiss adapter fits tripod heads with an Arca clamp as well as the DJI RS 2, RS 3 and RS 3 Pro gimbals.

Note

Connecting external audio to the Focus PD handle requires a 3.5 mm TRS to 3.5 mm TRRS cable. It is not included.
