The Tilta Khronos Cooling Storage System in Black combines quiet active cooling of the iPhone with storage that lets you back up footage right on set. Inside are a slot for an M.2 SSD (2230 or 2242) and a reader for SD and microSD cards reading at up to 310 MB/s; a switch selects which medium the phone sees. It holds magnetically via MagSafe, with or without the Khronos case, and charges the phone at the same time over USB-C PD 100 W.
The Khronos Cooling Storage System is a cooling module and external storage in one 82 g body. It sits on the back of an iPhone 15 or 16 Pro / Pro Max, carries heat away during long recordings and, over a single USB-C cable, gives the phone an SSD, an SD or a microSD card — plus power.
The module attaches to the back of the iPhone via MagSafe; the Khronos case is not a requirement, the cooler fits the phone on its own. An anti-slip silicone pad stops it from twisting and a lanyard eyelet makes sure the module does not end up on the floor when you take it off. The fan under the grille is built to run quietly, so it does not disturb audio recording. One limitation: with the module fitted, the Khronos USB-C hub cannot be mounted to the bottom of the case in the usual horizontal configuration.
Under the removable lid is a slot for an M.2 SSD in 2230 or 2242 format — the drive goes in at a 30° angle, is secured with a screw and the lid is tightened with the included hex key. Next to it are slots for an SD and a microSD (TF) card reading at up to 310 MB/s to the SD/TF 4.0 standard. The selector on the bottom edge switches which of the three media the phone currently sees, so a card from a drone or camera transfers to the phone without a computer. Storage media are not included.
The 10 Gb/s USB-C host port links the module to the phone and carries the data; the second USB-C port takes in power with PD 100 W support and keeps charging the iPhone without interrupting the transfer. An indicator light on the edge shows the module is running. A backup of the footage is thus made right after the take, directly on set.
Khronos is a modular system for shooting with a phone: a case or cage with mounting points that take magnetic filters, cooling, handles, lights, a USB-C hub and brackets via quick release. The parts combine and carry over between phone generations — this one is among them.
