Thanks to the combination of a back-illuminated APS-C Exmor R CMOS image sensor—boasting 26 effective megapixels—and the speed and power of Sony’s advanced BIONZ XR processor, the A6700 delivers exceptional imaging performance while maintaining a compact and lightweight design. The standard ISO sensitivity ranges from 100 to 32,000 for both photos and videos, enabling high-sensitivity shooting with low noise. The camera supports 4K high-resolution video recording at up to 120 frames per second, a wide dynamic range of over 14 EV to capture details in challenging or low-light conditions, and features the S-Cinetone picture profile—found in the professional Cinema Line series—for a cinematic look that requires no color grading and delivers stunning rendering of skin tones.

The AI unit is carried over from the A7RV model and enables highly accurate autofocus with real-time recognition. In addition to recognizing people and animals—a feature carried over from the A6000 series—it now accurately identifies other subjects such as birds, insects, and cars, trains, and airplanes, catering to a wide range of creative needs. The A6700 utilizes image data equivalent to 6K resolution to produce outstanding 4K video, including support for 4K/120 high-frame-rate recording, and is equipped with S-Log3, which offers a dynamic range of 14+ EV to preserve details in the brightest and darkest areas of the image. The A6700 is also equipped with S-Cinetone technology, which offers impressive skin tone reproduction and subject highlighting—technologies refined during the development of the Cinema Line series—while AI-powered automatic tracking smoothly follows subjects and eliminates the need for manual camera movement. The camera body features an MI (Multi-Interface) socket compatible with digital audio interfaces.

The camera is equipped with a user-friendly, touch-operated, adjustable LCD monitor. It also features a customizable front dial and a mode dial for stills, movies, and S&Q modes. It is equipped with an in-body five-axis optical image stabilization system (up to 5 stops) and now supports the Creators’ App for seamless uploading of videos and photos to cloud services.
