The Sony Alpha A6700 is a 26-megapixel mirrorless camera with an APS-C sensor, equipped with a back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor paired with a BIONZ XR image processor—the same combination found in Sony’s professional digital film camera, the FX30. This rangefinder-style mirrorless body offers professional imaging capabilities in a compact design, with a sensor size of 23.3 × 15.5 mm that produces approximately 27.0 megapixels and an effective resolution of 6192 x 4128 pixels.

The camera’s imaging performance is enhanced by comprehensive autofocus technology, including phase-detection autofocus coverage, continuous servo AF, and direct manual focus options. Five-axis sensor-shift stabilisation in the body delivers 5.0 stops of compensation to the CIPA standard, so you can shoot handheld with confidence even in low light. The native ISO sensitivity ranges from 100 to 32,000, with the option to expand it to 50–102,400 for extremely low-light conditions. The electronic shutter offers speeds ranging from 1/8,000 second to 30 seconds, while the mechanical shutter ranges from 1/4,000 second to 30 seconds.

The continuous shooting capabilities are extensive, with a maximum speed of 11 frames per second with autofocus and auto exposure, and a continuous shooting capacity of up to 59 compressed RAW images. The camera supports multiple image formats, including RAW for uncompressed shooting and JPEG quality levels ranging from Light to Extra Fine. White balance is set using 10 presets, with three memory slots for custom white balance settings.

The viewfinder system consists of a built-in electronic OLED viewfinder with a resolution of 2,359,296 dots, approximately 1.07x magnification, 100% coverage, and diopter adjustment from -4 to +3. The rear display is a tilting touchscreen LCD with a resolution of 1,036,800 dots, allowing for flexible composition angles and intuitive menu navigation. For UHD 4K production, the video system utilizes full pixel readout from the 6K sensor, using approximately 2.4 times the data required for standard 4K video, which minimizes moiré and aliasing artifacts. Recording times on high-capacity media are impressive, allowing for more than two hours of recording at 4K 30p or more than 40 minutes at 4K 60p on a 128GB card. The 10-bit 4:2:2 color depth ensures excellent color grading capabilities for post-production workflows.

Its optical design of 9 elements in 8 groups includes four aspherical elements and one ED glass element, the aperture has 7 blades and the lens has its own optical stabilisation. It weighs 107 g, measures 66 × 31.3 mm, takes 40.5 mm filters and focuses from 0.25 m.
