Datavideo NVS-40 4-Channel Streaming Encoder and Recorder

The Datavideo NVS-40 combines a four-channel streaming encoder and video recorder for live production that is designed to simultaneously output to multiple streaming servers and be securely recorded for later processing. Each of the four channels can be streamed and recorded independently; for each channel, you can set custom recording and streaming parameters up to 30 Mb/s.

Four HDMI 1.4 inputs accept signals up to 1080p60. The first channel can be switched between HDMI and 3G-SDI. The HDMI output allows for a preview, and the SDI output provides a pass-through signal. Audio can be fed in via stereo RCA or two balanced XLR inputs.

The encoder uses H.264/AVC High Profile Level 4.1; the AAC-LC audio codec operates at 48 kHz and 16 bits. Supported streaming protocols include RTMP/RTMPS, RTSP/RTP, HLS, SRT, and MPEG-TS. Recordings are saved as MP4, MOV, or TS files to a single internal SSD/HDD (SATA 6 Gb/s, NTFS, FAT, or exFAT file system). The drive is not included.

The NVS-40 is managed via a web interface on the local network. A Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 port is used for network connectivity and configuration. Power is supplied by the included 12 V DC adapter; the device’s power consumption is 16 W. The metal chassis measures 480 × 180 × 44 mm, and the unit itself weighs 2.3 kg.

Four Channels for Streaming and Recording

The NVS-40 simultaneously streams and records up to four video channels. Each channel can be configured independently, allowing live streaming to run concurrently with recording for archiving or post-production.

Management via Web Interface

Access channel configuration and previews via the web interface over the local network. The multiview screen provides an overview of inputs and display options including Quad View, Full Screen, POP, PBP, and PIP.
