Blackmagic Teranex Mini SDI to DisplayPort 8K HDR is a professional 12G-SDI to DisplayPort converter for HD, Ultra HD and 8K monitoring up to 4320p60. It offers HDR, a built-in scaler, scopes, monitor calibration and 33 point 3D LUTs and works with DisplayPort monitors including the Apple Pro Display XDR, making it ideal for color accurate grading.

A converter for 8K monitoring

SDI to DisplayPort without compromise

One full size DisplayPort is enough for 4K, and both work together for uncompressed 8K. The DisplayPort over USB-C output extends support to compatible monitors, and four loop outputs pass the SDI signal on.

For the Apple Pro Display XDR

With an Apple Pro Display XDR you can select from the monitor’s reference profiles to match the color space and gamma accurately to the SDI signal for grading. The converter also works with other 8K and 4K DisplayPort monitors.

Scaler and down conversion

The built-in scaler scales the input format to the monitor’s native resolution, using the EDID for 5K and 6K displays. Pixel-to-pixel mode shows HD or 4K unscaled, and down conversion lets you view 8K even on a lower resolution monitor.

HDR PQ and HLG

The converter handles static PQ and HLG metadata in the VPID according to the ST 2108-1, ST 2084 and ST 425 standards. It supports the Rec.709 and Rec.2020 color spaces and 100% of DCI-P3, so all you need to do is connect a display to get HDR monitoring from an SDI signal. The output can be set to SDR, HLG or PQ.

Two scopes over the picture

Two independent scopes – waveform, RGB or YUV parade, vectorscope and histogram – are overlaid on the picture with adjustable position, size and opacity. Waveform and parade have standard and HDR graticules, so you can check broadcast compliance right on the monitor.

3D LUTs and monitor calibration

Two independent 33 point 3D LUTs in standard file formats are switched with buttons 1 and 2 on the front panel. SpectraCal C6, X-Rite i1 Display Pro or Klein K10-A probes plug into the front; during calibration the converter generates test patterns on the monitor and creates a correction 3D LUT from the measurement.

Front panel control

The 2.2 inch color LCD shows the input picture, the format and accurate audio meters with VU or PPM ballistics. Six buttons and a rotary knob give access to LUTs, calibration, scopes, network and audio without a computer. Remotely, the converter is set up over Ethernet or the front USB-C port with the Teranex Utility application.

Connections

The front has USB-C, the control buttons, the LCD and the rotary knob. The rear has the IEC power connector, Ethernet, four 12G-SDI inputs with loop outputs, two DisplayPort outputs, the DisplayPort over USB-C output and the RCA stereo output.
