Panasonic has lifted the veil of secrecy surrounding the development of the upcoming LUMIX GH6. The new product should be available by the end of 2021 and will feature 10-bit DCI 4Kp60 recording with 4:2:2 sampling, and will also offer unlimited recording time (within a manufacturer-specified temperature range), 10-bit 4K 120 fps (HFR) mode and 10-bit 5.7K 60p recording. In addition to the GH6, the G-Series lens line-up will be expanded with a new, unspecified zoom lens, as well as a LEICA DG 25-50mm f/1.7 lens.

In addition to the introduction of the LUMIX GH5M2, Panasonic also announced new firmware for the GH5S, G9 and G100.Firmware 2.0 for the DC-GH5S (enhanced AF functions, RAW output over HDMI), 2.4 for the DC-G9 and 1.2 for the DC-G100 will be available on the LUMIX global customer support website from June 9, 2021.

The updated AF system can now detect eyes/face at 2x faster speed and human or animal at 5x faster speed, even when the subjects are approximately half the size of the previous version. AF detection has also been improved to include head recognition. Human/animal recognition can be activated in the AF settings to [1-Area].

RAW format output over HDMI. Apple ProRes RAW format can now be recorded using the Atomos Ninja V recorder. Output of RAW data over HDMI is now available in [4K] 23.98 - 59.94 fps / [Anamorphic (4:3) 3.7K] 23.98 - 59.94 fps, 12 bits. A new LUT correction

is also available for RAW videos recorded with the Ninja V for color matching with footage shot using the V-Log/V-Gamut modes of Panasonic VariCam and EVA1 cameras.
