Tilta Hydra Alien Mini Car Mounting System - Titanium Gray

A compact sprung Tilta vehicle mount for action cameras, pocket gimbals and phones up to 600 g. The hydraulically damped aluminium-alloy arm keeps the image steady up to 100 km/h, the mechanical 6″ suction cup holds it on the bonnet and the 25 mm rosette takes it to a motorcycle or a bicycle. The kit includes a support arm, counterweight, DJI Osmo Pocket 3 mounting clamp and a soft carrying case.

The Tilta Hydra Alien Mini Car Mounting System is a compact sprung vehicle mount for action cameras, pocket gimbals and phones. It descends from the full-size Hydra Arm but fits in a backpack — the whole kit weighs 982.5 g. The mechanical 6″ suction cup holds it on the bonnet, and the 25 mm rosette takes it to a motorcycle or a bicycle.

A vehicle mount that fits in a backpack

The Hydra Alien Mini descends from the full-size Hydra Arm at a fraction of its size. The arm is CNC-machined from a single billet of aluminium alloy, measures 181 × 37.4 × 70.46 mm and weighs 372 g. It carries 150 to 600 grams — DJI Action 3/4, DJI Osmo Pocket 3, Insta360 X4/X3 or a phone in the Khronos holder — and stays steady up to 100 km/h.

6″ suction cup with rosette bracket

The kit includes a mechanical 6″ suction cup with a rosette bracket. Set it on a flat part of the bodywork, press it down, and the arm holds — no battery, no charging, no waiting. Alongside it come the support arm, the mounting bracket, a 220 g counterweight, the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 mounting clamp and a soft carrying case of 27 × 23 × 11 cm that takes the whole rig.

Hydraulic damping system

The damper is filled with US automotive-grade oil of the kind used in racing dampers. It absorbs the micro-vibrations that would otherwise blur the image and carries 150 to 600 grams. The oil can be topped up at any time, so the damping stays the same after a season on dusty roads.

Infinite 360° adjustment

The joint turns a full 360° and locks in any position — not in steps, but infinitely. The included support arm adjusts on two axes over 270°–90°–270°, so you can push the rig away from the bodywork or swing it along it, depending on where the vehicle offers a flat surface. The camera mounts on a 25 mm rosette.

On a car, on a motorcycle, on a bike

The mount is not just for cars. The 25 mm rosette and the mounting bracket turn it into an anchor for a motorcycle, an e-bike or a plain bicycle — anywhere an ordinary mount starts to shake. The shock absorbing arm soaks up the hits from broken roads, sand and cobbles before they reach the camera.

Using the suction cup safely

Fit the suction cup on a flat surface and keep the weight of the arm balanced over its centre. Extending the arm well past the cup, or side-mounting it, increases the risk of it letting go — secure the rig with a ratchet strap or a safety cable in those situations. When attaching, always press the cup down firmly so that it sits visibly flatter; merely placed on the surface, it comes off far more easily.

Like any suction cup it can leave a mark on the surface, the more so in direct sun and heat. Do not use it on a wrapped vehicle, and protect paintwork with a protective film.
