The Sony FE 16mm F1.8 G is an ultra-wide full-frame G lens for Sony E-mount cameras. Controls right on the lens

The aperture ring has a click switch — on for stills, off for video. The IRIS LOCK switch stops the ring from slipping into the A position, and beside it sit a programmable focus hold button and the AF/MF switch.

Built for video too

The design suppresses focus breathing, and the lens supports breathing compensation in compatible α bodies. With Active Mode stabilisation in the camera body you can even film while walking.

Bokeh even at ultra-wide

With manual focus it focuses from 0.13 m at 0.3× magnification, with AF from 0.15 m at 0.25×. Eleven circular aperture blades and F1.8 soften the background where nobody expects it from a 16 mm.

Advanced aspherical elements suppress field curvature and astigmatism, so resolution holds across the frame at every aperture.

Super ED and three ED

Low-dispersion glass keeps chromatic aberration in check right to the edges, and an optimised coating reduces flare and ghosting.
