RED KOMODO-X® Z Mount

The RED Komodo-X builds on the popular Komodo model, but adds higher frame rates (up to 6Kp80 and 4Kp120) and a wider dynamic range thanks to an upgraded 6K S35 sensor with global shutter. On sale from Q1 2025.

Key features include support for DSMC3 Touch LCD monitors, integrated USB-C port, enhanced audio interface, etc. The camera also offers a lockable Nikon Z mount, Micro V-Lock battery interface, new user buttons and more.

These innovations make the Komodo-X easier to use in high-end film productions while maintaining the Komodo's compact size. New interfaces include 12G-SDI, a full-size power input, a USB-C port, and an audio jack with security lock and phantom power support. An integrated 2.9" LCD display makes it easy to control and preview video, and the optional RED DSMC3 7" Touch LCD monitor can be used for precise viewing.

The new system also shares many of the features of the flagship DSMC3 platform, but at the miniature size of the Komodo. This includes support for recording to CFexpress media, a Micro V-Lock power plate and a rugged RF bayonet with tool-less lens changing but with protection against accidental release. The Komodo-X is fully compatible with /i PL lenses using optional RED Z/PL adapters.

The Komodo-X also fits perfectly into modern productions that make extensive use of IP networks. It features USB Type-C and Wi-Fi interfaces with rich remote control options (RED Control/RED Control Pro), media transfer to FTP servers or Cloud Uploading. It also offers precise PTP or Tri-level genlock sync and compatibility with new (Redvolt Nano-V, RED Compact Top Handle, RED KOMODO and V-RAPTOR Z to PL w/ Electronic ND Filter Adapter Pack) and existing Komodo accessories incl. Komodo Wing Grip and Komodo Outrigger Handle.
