Megadap Sony E to Nikon Z Autofocus Adapter PRO (ETZ21 Pro+)

We are excited to announce the launch of the new Megadap Sony E to Nikon Z Autofocus Adapter Pro+ (ETZ21Pro+). Building upon the success of the previous 2 generations, the new adapter and firmware has a big mechanical upgrade over the previous model. On Nikon Z cameras and RED cameras with a Z mount it retains autofocus, aperture control and the function buttons of Sony E lenses.

Rubber sealing ring against dust and water

A rubber sealing ring on the Nikon Z side seals the joint with the camera body against dust and moisture and keeps the adapter from slipping. Useful whenever you shoot outdoors in rain, snow or dust.

Focus confirmation for manual lenses

The adapter reports focus confirmation to the camera even with manual lenses that have no electronic contacts, including lenses mounted through a further adapter. When focusing by hand, the camera shows when the subject is in focus.

Sony A lenses via the Sony LA-EA5 adapter

ETZ21 Pro+ works with the Sony LA-EA5 adapter, so selected Sony A-mount lenses can also be used on a Nikon Z camera – with autofocus. The LA-EA5 attaches to the Sony E side and the Sony A lens to the LA-EA5.

Patented lens release button

The lens release button is made of durable stainless steel and releases the lens quickly and easily. Electroplated contact pins last longer without contact problems, and the new spring made of a more durable material holds heavier lenses more securely.

Autofocus, aperture and lens function buttons

Sony E lenses stay fully functional on Nikon Z bodies: autofocus, aperture control from the body and from the lens, and the lens function buttons and switches – AF/MF switch, focus limiter, focus hold button, stabilisation switch and mode switch, including customised functions.

Only 2 mm thick, sealed electronics

The adapter is only 2 mm thick, so the lens handles almost like a native one. The surface resists scratches and the printed circuit board is sealed for maximum protection of the electronics.

Usage tips

• For video, use AF-F (full-time servo AF); AF speed and sensitivity can be set in the camera's video menu.
• With lenses that have an aperture ring, set the ring to A when shooting stills so that the camera controls the aperture. For video, setting the aperture manually with the ring is recommended.
• Do not use in-body and in-lens stabilisation at the same time – choose one of them.
• In low light, turn on Low-Light AF in the camera menu if the body offers it.
• Lenses heavier than 1.5 kg are not recommended – the connection between the adapter and the camera could break.
• Attach and remove the adapter and lens with the camera switched off, without pressing the release button.

Firmware update

New firmware is downloaded from the Megadap website as a ZIP file. Copy the extracted .bin file to the root directory of the memory card (not into a folder), insert the card into the camera, attach the adapter with a lens and select Firmware version in the Setup menu. When finished, switch the camera off and on again. The lens firmware version shown in the menu is the adapter version.

ETZ21 Pro+ is the third generation of the Megadap adapter for Sony E lenses on Nikon Z bodies. Compared with the previous model it adds a rubber sealing ring against dust and water, a patented stainless steel lens release button, more durable contact pins and a new spring that holds heavier lenses more securely.
