Powerful image stabilization
The Body I.S. image stabiliser has also been significantly improved, allowing the G9 to shoot with exposure times up to 6.5 EV longer than without stabilisation. The stabiliser can calculate the amount of camera shake in various situations with the utmost precision, using the angular speed of the camera and the motion vector. The latter is measured using the gyro sensor, the motion sensor and the image sensor itself

The combination of the B.I.S. (Body Image Stabilizer, 5-axis motion) and O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer, 2-axis motion) stabilization systems results in the five-axis Dual I.S. 2 system. This combination of the two technologies is particularly useful when using a telephoto lens or in difficult situations such as at night or when shooting with one hand. The five-axis Dual I.S. 2 stabiliser works both when shooting still images and video, including 4K recording in MP4 format.

Fast autofocus and sequential shooting
The extremely fast and accurate autofocus system with DFD technology means it performs the world's fastest focusing - taking just 0.04 seconds, no other camera was faster at the time of the G9's launch. In addition, the camera features the fastest sequential shooting in its class - handling 20 fps in continuous focus mode and 60 fps in single focus, all at full 20.3 MP resolution. Of course, 6K/4K PHOTO modes are also available, so users can opt for a much faster sequence of 30 (6K mode) or 60 fps (4K mode) in addition to regular shooting. In 6K mode, each single image has a resolution of 18 MP, while in 4K mode it's 8 MP.

OLED viewfinder
The LUMIX G9 features the largest OLED viewfinder in its class with an excellent 1.66x / 0.83x (full-frame equivalent) aspect ratio. Even with fast sequential shooting, there is no viewfinder fogging. There are also modes for night shooting and for extended focus point selection. The electronic viewfinder uses OLED technology, which means smooth redrawing of motion (fps refresh rate) and lightning-fast responses with minimal display lag (max. 0.005 s). The extremely high contrast ratio of 10000:1 is also pleasing

Durable design
The Panasonic LUMIX G9 is designed for rough terrain, which is matched by the magnesium alloy construction on the front and back. It is resistant to moisture, dust and freezing down to -10 degrees. A status display (the largest in its class) on the top makes shooting even easier and more convenient than with previous models. The display on the back has a tilting design, a diagonal of 7.6 cm, an aspect ratio of 3:2 and a resolution of 1.04 megapixels. In addition, the LUMIX G9 offers two SD memory card slots, including the latest fast high-capacity UHS-II types.

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
The Panasonic LUMIX G9 is equipped with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technology, which means more convenient control and the ability to share images and video footage instantly and easily. Thanks to Bluetooth 4.2 (BLE: Bluetooth Low Energy) support, the camera can maintain a constant connection with your phone or tablet while consuming minimal power. For Wi-Fi connectivity, you can choose between 5 GHz (IEEE802.11ac) and the more conventional 2.4 GHz (IEEE 802.11b/g/n).

LUMIX G9 FW v2.4 (9/6/2021)

Improved autofocus.

The updated AF system can now detect eyes/face at 2x faster speed and human or animal at 5x faster speed, even when the subjects are about half the size of the previous version. AF detection has also been improved to include head recognition. Human/animal recognition can be activated in the AF settings to [1-Area].
