The Tilta DB-GH-PTAP is a Panasonic DMW-BLF19 dummy battery with a 65 cm cable ending in a P-Tap (D-Tap) male plug. It sits in the battery compartment of a Lumix GH-series body — GH5, GH5S, GH5 II, GH6, GH7, G9 — and powers it straight from a V-Mount or Gold Mount plate with a P-Tap output, such as the Tilta Universal Battery Plate. The large battery on the plate keeps the body running for the whole shoot without a battery swap.
The Tilta DB-GH-PTAP replaces the Panasonic DMW-BLF19 battery with a cable ending in a P-Tap plug. The dummy battery has the shape and contacts of the original pack, seats in the compartment on the first try and draws its power from outside — from any battery plate with a P-Tap output on the cage or on the tripod.
The dummy battery goes into the battery compartment in place of the Panasonic DMW-BLF19 pack: into Lumix bodies that use this battery (GH5, GH5S, GH5 II, GH6, GH7, G9 and the older GH4 and GH3), and into accessories powered from a BLF19 through a battery adapter. The materials are rubber, aluminum alloy and ABS plastic; the cable is 65 cm long, so the plate does not have to sit right behind the body — it reaches a shoulder rig or a plate under the tripod head.
The other end of the cable is a P-Tap (D-Tap) male plug, the most common power output on battery plates. It goes straight into a V-Mount or Gold Mount plate — the Tilta Universal Battery Plate the cable was designed for, the Mini PD V-Mount plate or the Smart V-Mount baseplate — with no further adapters. The large battery on the plate then powers the body and the rest of the accessories from a single source.
Where the plate has a free 3-pin Fischer output instead of P-Tap, there is the same version with a locking Fischer plug and a shorter cable (DB-GH-3FS). The dummy in the compartment is the same; only the termination and the length differ.
A dummy battery has the shape and contacts of the original pack, sits in the battery compartment and brings power in by cable from outside — from a V-Mount or Gold Mount plate via P-Tap, from a USB-C PD source, over 2-pin Lemo or a DC output. The body then runs the whole shoot without a battery swap. Tilta's DB series covers Canon LP-E6 and BP, Sony NP-FZ100 and the A9 series and Panasonic GH; this cable is one of them.
