The chip watches over-charge, over-discharge, over-voltage, over-current, short circuit and overheating, and switches to trickle charging once full.

The indicator on the battery glows red while charging and green when full. Over USB-C it is full in about four hours — from a power bank or a laptop too, with no original charger needed.
