Cartoni Focus 8

The Cartoni Focus 8 is the brand’s smallest fluid head, built for lightweight digital cinema cameras and stills cameras up to 8 kg. It has a 75 mm bowl, continuous fluid drag and a patented continuous counterbalance, ±90° tilt and a sliding plate compatible with standard Sachtler and Manfrotto plates. Weighing just 1.6 kg, it travels well.

The Focus 8 is made for run-and-gun shooters working with lightweight cameras from Blackmagic Design, Canon or Sony who need to move quickly. High-resistance polymer composite and alloys keep the weight down while the controls match a professional head.

Patented continuous counterbalance

Counterbalance and fluid drag on both pan and tilt are set continuously, without fixed steps. The camera stays put at any tilt angle, and every move starts and stops without a jolt.

Sachtler and Manfrotto plates

The sliding plate is compatible with standard Sachtler and Manfrotto plates, so you can move the camera over from another head without re-rigging.

75 mm and 100 mm tripods

The head fits any tripod with a 75 mm bowl; use the AT950 converter to put it on a 100 mm tripod.

Telescopic pan bar

Extend the pan bar to the length that suits you and angle it to a comfortable position.

−40 to +60 °C

The head works in freezing cold and in heat, so you can use it outdoors all year round.

Counterbalance and level

The continuous counterbalance knob sits at the back of the head, right next to the bubble level, so you can fine-tune it with one hand without removing the camera.

Sliding plate and locks

Slide the plate forwards or backwards until the camera is in balance. The pan and tilt locks are operated by clearly marked levers on the sides.

Payload versus centre of gravity

The chart shows how much camera weight the head’s counterbalance can balance depending on how high above the plate the centre of gravity of the rig sits. The higher the centre of gravity, the lower the payload the head can hold in balance.
