Panasonic released a series of updates for its professional ENG line of cameras, the AJ-PX270, PX380, PX800, and PX5000 models. The updates for PX380 and PX800 models include support for the enhanced functions of P2 Cast (version 2), including Direct Transfer function for hi-res data transfer to FTP servers other than P2 Cast, real-time updates of percentage of transfer progress, and P2 Cast meta data display on OSDs. The P2 Cast cloud server service for broadcast cameras is currently in service in the USA and Europe, and allows proxy data transfer from a P2 camera to the network and simple editing on the cloud server. P2 cameras upload only necessary portion of hi-res video data based on EDL. More information here.

Panasonic AJ-PX270 Firmware v31.89
– Correction is made so that recording is prohibited during the deletion by DELETE LAST CLIP function.

– OSD and TallyLED have their own indicator for remaining card capacity and each indicator stars blinking at a different timing when the remaining capacity is low. So they are synchronized.

–Improvement of P2 Cast related functions:

– Correction is made so that transferred clips are displayed on P2 Cast even if the transfer of them has been performed in the foreground.

– Correction is made so that an error notification process is carried out at the time of communication failure in order to correctly process the clips that are being transferred.

– Menu is added to improve the convenience in direct connection with AG-BS300.

– 23.98PsF is supported in direct connection with AG-BS300.

– Support the serial connection with AK-HRP200.

– DELETE LAST CLIP function is added to UserSW menu assignment item.

– Support the enhanced functions of P2 Cast (Ver. 2):

– P2 Cast "Direct Transfer" function is supported. Hi-Res data can be transferred to FTP servers other than P2 Cast.

– When the cameras receive the Meta Data from P2 Cast, the indications are displayed on OSD. Besides the information about “Play List Export” and “Streaming” is displayed on OSD. For five seconds, the indications are displayed at the center of OSD.

– Improvement is made so that the percentage of transfer progress can be updated in real time with no need to reflesh the Upload List on the camera manually.

– Accumulation Gain [1S.EXP.] function is added to UserSW menu assignment item. (

– Alarm menu is added against the near-end of remaining battery capacity (OTHER FUNCTIONS -> WARNING ALARM: ON / OFF).

Affordable SD and HD up/down conversions plus HD cross conversions for only 275 EUR!

Blackmagic Design announced a new lower price on its popular Mini Converter UpDownCross to 275 EUR.

Mini Converter UpDownCross supports 3G-SDI and gives customers affordable up and down conversions between SD and HD video, as well as cross conversions between different HD formats. That means customers can turn SD into HD, HD into SD, or cross convert between 720 and 1080 HD formats that have the same frame rate.

Mini Converter UpDownCross also features a 4 field standards converter that makes it perfect for converting between NTSC and PAL frame rates, as well as for connecting to broadcast equipment, even at different frame rates. Customers always get perfectly synchronized audio and video because Mini Converter UpDownCross automatically adjusts the audio to match the video processing time.
