Blackmagic Design released two new updates HyperDeck 5.1 update for HyperDeck Studio Mini, and Desktop Video 10.8.6 for DeckLink Duo 2 and DeckLink Quad 2, respectively.

HyperDeck 5.1 Update

Adds DNxHD and DNxHR file formats to HyperDeck Studio Mini

Desktop Video 10.8.6
This software update adds support for SDI output slew rate support for developers on DeckLink Duo 2 and DeckLink Quad 2, which allows developers to accurately synchronize the output of playback to remote locations that are not on the same genlock environment. This feature can be accessed via the DeckLink API. This update also adds compatibility improvements for Media Composer plus general performance improvements for all DeckLink, UltraStudio and Intensity models.

Support for the following new feature on DeckLink Duo 2 and DeckLink Quad 2:

• Adds support for video output clock timing adjustment

Other fixes and improvements:

• Fix sporadic crash after very long capture
• Fix intermittent device detection issue
• Fix Media Composer crash when scrubbing timeline
• General performance and stability improvements for all models

Panasonic released a new „System Camera and Switcher Product Lineup April 2017” PDF catalog, containing new information on AK-UC3000 4K Studio Camera and AK-HC5000 HD Studio Camera, the new AW-HR140 Full-HD Outdoor Integrated Camera, the AK-UB300GJ 4K Multi Purpose Camera, and the new Memory Card Portable Recorder AG-UMR20/Compact Camera Head AG-UCK20GJ and Memory Card Portable Recorder AG-MDR25/Compact Camera Head AG-MDC20GJ products.

RED Digital Cinema released a new beta firmware for its DSMC-2 line of cameras. Beta version 6.4.2 adds new Apple ProRes formats to Scarlet-W and Weapon MG models:

SCARLET-W and SCARLET-W Monochrome changes include:

• Increased Max Data Speed: up to 170 MB/s using RED MINI-MAG
• Added Apple ProRes 422 and 422 LT at 4K (4096 × 2160) up to 29.97 fps
• Added Avid Codecs DNxHR, SQ and LB at 4K (4096 × 2160) 8-bit up to 29.97 fps

WEAPON 6K Magnesium changes include:

• Added Apple ProRes 422 HQ, 422 and 422 LT at 4K (4096 × 2160) up to 29.97 fps
• Added Avid Codecs DNxHR HQX at 4K (4096 × 2160) 12-bit up to 29.97 fps, DNxHR HQ, SQ and LB at 4K (4096 × 2160) 8-bit up to 29.97 fps

Also, as already mentioned at the beginning of this month, RED increased their manufacturing spending significantly to catch up with the demand and backorder specially on Raven and Scarlet-W lines, and to offset those costs they are increasing the price on both Raven and Scarlet W.

Effective immediately, RED RAVEN is 9,030 EUR and SCARLET-W & SCARLET-W Monochrome is 12,615 EUR ex. VAT. If you already have a deposit in you will pay the old lower price when your camera is ready to ship. All deposits placed after the time of this post will be paying the new prices. Existing deposits also are entitled to the old pricing for upgrades.
