Sjoerd Wess is a well known Instagrammer and YouTuber. ‘Through the Watchmakers Eye’ is a beautiful short about his father, who is one of the last master watch repairers in Holland. Sjoerd talks about shooting with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro, using a Mitakon 50mm cine prime and LAOWA 100mm lenses.

“I started thinking I could shoot this project by simply reversing one of my wide angle lenses to be able to shoot in macro. But I wasn’t too sure if it would be good enough quality for this project. Great for bees and flowers, but I had doubts about shooting all of the mechanical bits in a timepiece. And then I got an email from Laowa asking me if I wanted to test any of their lenses! I now had ‘the perfect set’ of professional lenses for shooting this project.”

Cine lens range Samyang Xeen CF has seen a new addition of 135mm/T2.2. The lens will offer high optical resolution (for modern 4K/6K/8K FF sensors), a design that uses carbon elements for lower weight while maintaining high strength, geared aperture and focus rings (200° range), X-Coating for flare suppression and easy-to-read luminescent markings.

The Ultimatte 12 4K is a revision of the Ultimatte 4K hardware. There is a number of changes incl. a 2.2“ LCD which can be used to monitor sources, and access the hardware menu. The hardware menu allows access to the Ultimatte 12 4K IP settings, and includes input status for checking reference and video input connectivity. Also new are buttons and rotary dial for menu navigation and selection; detachable rack ears; slightly smaller size in terms of depth, measuring approximately 222mm from the front of the rotary dial to the back of the BNC connections; plus a smaller power consumption of 45W compared to 72W of the previous model.
