Panasonic to release new firmware for models LUMIX S5M2 (2.2) a S5M2X (1.3) on October 24, 2023 (on the web at https://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/dsc/). The new features will include a magnifying glass to enlarge the image and therefore more precise focus control in both MF and AF modes, as well as an improved high resolution mode where shutter speeds of up to 8 seconds can be set, including noise reduction. Thanks to powerful image stabilisation, a "high-res handheld" shooting option has also been added for taking very detailed images without the use of a tripod.
