The new update for Convergent Design's top of the line camera monitors/recorders adds many a major feature! Titan HD Extract is now available as an upgrade for both Odyssey and Apollo. The Odyssey RAW Bundle now supports Panasonic Varicam LT RAW, plus the lightweight Apple ProRes Proxy codec, EDL support (Apollo/Titan Live Switching), ARRIRAW 4:3 and other features and fixes were added.

Panasonic announced that it has developed a new Digital Single Lens Mirrorless (DSLM) camera LUMIX GH5 that is capable of recording smooth, high-precision 4K 60p/50p and faithful 4:2:2 10-bit 4K video (4K/30p, 25p, 24p, and 23.98p)! It also features 6K PHOTO which cuts approx.18-megapixel still images out of a 4:3 or 3:2 video footage. Taking advantage of its high-speed, long-time burst shooting capability, spur-of-the-moment shots can be saved in beautiful photos with higher resolution that complies with larger-sized printing by substantially increasing the resolution from approx.8-megapixel (4K PHOTO) to approx.18-megapixel (6K PHOTO). Furthermore, approx.8-megapixel 4K PHOTO can be captured at 60 fps. The new LUMIX GH5 is scheduled for commercialization and introduction to the global market in early 2017. Panasonic has also introduced the new LEICA DG VARIO-ELMARIT F2.8-4.0 lens series for the M43 format. Achieving both high optical performance and a compact size, the LEICA DG VARIO-ELMARIT F2.8-4.0 series includes a new 12-60mm standard zoom lens, 8-18mm wide zoom lens and 50-200mm telephoto zoom lens. No release date has been announced, yet.

Schneider-Kreuznach annouced new 18mm lens from the Xenon FF Prime family will ship Q4 2016, with a 135mm variant following early 2017. The design of the 18mm FF-Prime features a specially developed internal focusing mechanism, giving it the same dimensions as all other FF-Primes. This makes it surprisingly easy to change lenses as, normally, 18mm lenses are much shorter. The extremely wide T2.4 aperture ensures a bokeh and appearance that match the rest of the FF-Prime lens range. The lens is ideal for portrait or landscape cinematography as well as architectural images due to the good distortion correction. The FF-Prime lenses with 4K+ resolution have been especially developed for use in DSLR cameras with full-format sensors as well as professional cine cameras. The homogeneous line now encompasses T2.4/18mm T2.1/25mm, T2.1/35mm, T2.1/50mm, T2.1/75mm and T2.1/100mm focal lengths with user interchangeable PL, EF, F and E mounts. New FF-Primes purchased between September 1 through December 15, 2016, are eligible for a factory mail-in rebate! Purchase five or more FF-Primes (excluding the 18mm) to get a 15% rebate from the invoiced price plus two flight cases that fit standard commercial airplane overhead bins. Buy three or four FF-Primes (excluding the 18mm) to get a 10% rebate and one free flight case with space for 4 lenses. Pre-orders for the new 18mm FF-Prime are eligible for a 5% rebate!
