Tilta Full Camera Cage for Nikon ZR - Black

The Tilta Full Camera Cage for the Nikon ZR is a full aluminium-alloy cage with a wooden grip that protects the camera body and gives it mounting points for accessories: 1/4"-20 threads with locating pins, 3/8"-16 threads, a cold shoe and a bottom plate with an Arca-Swiss profile for a tripod or gimbal. The top section unscrews, leaving a lightweight 139 g L-bracket. A USB-C and micro HDMI cable clamp is included.

The Tilta Full Camera Cage for the Nikon ZR is a cage designed precisely for this camera body. It consists of a bottom plate with an Arca-Swiss profile, a left side with a wooden grip and a removable top section — together a full cage, with the top section removed an L-bracket. The camera sits on three points so it cannot rotate, and all buttons, the microphone and the tally light stay clear. A USB-C and micro HDMI cable clamp with thumb screws is included.

Protection and mounting points around the whole body

The cage wraps around the Nikon ZR from below, the left and the top. The top plate carries a cold shoe and 1/4"-20 threads with locating pins for a monitor, microphone or top handle, the sides have a row of 3/8"-16 and 1/4"-20 threads for arms and mounts, and the bottom plate has M3 threads and a 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 adapter. The camera is secured in the cage with a 1/4"-20 screw from below; a locating pin next to the screw and a security attachment in the strap slot at the top left prevent rotation.

Cage interfaces

Around its perimeter the cage offers four 1/4"-20 threads with locating pins, a row of 3/8"-16 threads, a cold shoe on the top plate, a wrist strap eyelet and a 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 adapter. The cable clamp sits on the left side, a silicone pad in the bottom plate protects the bottom of the camera, and a multi-functional screwdriver for fitting and removing parts is stowed in the cage.

Two configurations: full cage or L-bracket

The top section of the cage unscrews, leaving an L-bracket with a wooden grip and bottom protection. The camera is lighter and narrower that way — for a gimbal or fast handheld work. With the top section fitted you have the full cage with full protection and all the mounting points for a monitor, microphone or handles.

Modular design

Switching between configurations is a matter of a few screws: the top section comes off or goes on without extra tools, the screwdriver is part of the cage. The camera stays in the L-bracket.

Free access to the camera controls

The cage is shaped around the Nikon ZR body so that it does not obstruct the control buttons or the built-in microphone on top, leaves the tally light clear and does not get in the way of a lens adapter. The camera sits in the cage on three points: the 1/4"-20 screw underneath, a locating pin next to it against rotation, and a security attachment in the strap slot at the top left.

Lightweight design

In the L-bracket configuration the cage weighs 139 g, the full cage without the cable clamp 189.5 g. The Nikon ZR stays as portable and light as it is without a cage — you hardly notice the difference in the hand, but the bottom and sides of the camera are protected and accessories have somewhere to mount.

Arca-Swiss built into the cage and cable clamp

The bottom plate of the cage has an Arca-Swiss profile, so the camera drops straight into a tripod quick-release head, DJI gimbals and other ARCA receivers without an extra plate. The cable clamp on the left side holds the USB-C and micro HDMI cable with two thumb screws so they do not pull out while shooting and interrupt data transfer or power.

Optional: Xeno top handle

The Tilta Xeno top handle (1/4"-20 with locating pins, TA-XTH1-B) fits the top plate of the cage. It carries the camera at low angles, has its own 1/4"-20 threads and a cold shoe for a monitor, and its curved shape leaves clearance above the camera. It is included in the Base Kit and Pro Kit; with the cage alone it is bought separately.

Optional: PL adapter support

If you mount cine lenses on the Nikon ZR through the Kippertie Z→PL adapter, add the lens adapter support TA-T98-LAS-B to the cage. It screws to the cage bottom plate with two screws and supports the adapter from below so a heavy lens does not strain the camera mount. It weighs just 17.5 g.

Note on the articulating screen

With the cage fitted, the Nikon ZR touchscreen cannot articulate through its full range — the cage leaves clearance for lens adapters and therefore reaches into the path of the panel. The screen can be flipped out and turned, but not into every position available without the cage.

The Tilta cage family for the Nikon ZR

The cage is the foundation of four kits: the Full Camera Cage on its own, the Base Kit with a Xeno top handle, the Pro Kit with top and side handles, a height-adjustable ARCA baseplate and 15 mm rods, and the Power Kit with a Mini PD V-Mount battery plate on an adjustable ARCA receiver.
