Nikon has just released the latest firmware version 2.00 for its Nikon Z6III mirrorless FX camera. This is the first major update since the launch of the Z6III, introducing several features equivalent to those available on Nikon's flagship Z9 and Z8 cameras.
This first major update since the launch of the Z6III adds the long-awaited [Birds] mode to the camera's already outstanding speed between subject detection modes, offering a higher level of user experience when shooting photos and videos. When [Birds] mode is selected, the camera automatically tracks birds in flight with high precision and keeps them in focus even against complex contrast backgrounds such as forests or rocky mountains.
Firmware version 2.00 also adds an Auto Capture function that enables automatic shooting under preset conditions and supports versatile shooting styles tailored to different situations. Users can specify the type of subject, its direction of movement, and the range of focus distances to capture previously difficult scenes, such as those requiring shooting in places where photographers would disturb the subject.
And as the first Nikon product, the Z6III camera supportsthe "Nikon Authenticity Service"- a solution primarily aimed at media organizations and creators who require a high degree of credibility for their work. The service is compatible with the C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) standard and uniquely records information about the origin of image data from shooting to editing to ensure greater transparency and reliability of content.

Nikon has just unveiled the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II lens. Compared to the previous generation, this new lens features internal zooming, faster autofocus, a new optical design, and is lighter, sharper, better balanced, and optimized for video. It is the world's first FX-format lens with a 24-70 mm range and internal zoom. Weighing only 675 g, it is also the lightest in its class. It is expected to be available at the end of September 2025.
The new NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II has been developed to give photographers and videographers more options in the field. It is easier to control and more durable than its predecessor. The internal zoom ensures that the lens's center of gravity does not change when zooming. This allows photographers to zoom smoothly from the hand without having to change their grip, and videographers do not have to rebalance the gimbal. With fewer moving parts, the lens is also better protected against the elements – at a professional level.
