Blackmagic Design has just released several updates

DaVinci Resolve 20.1

This major update brings support for Apple Immersive workflows, including Apple Spatial Audio support, to DaVinci Resolve Studio for macOS. With this update, you can easily edit, color grade, add visual effects, mix surround sound, and export Apple Immersive Video captured with the new Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive camera. The new immersive video viewer allows customers to rotate, tilt, and pan clips when viewed on 2D monitors, or stream them directly to Apple Vision Pro.

On the edit page, you can work with files from the URSA Cine Immersive camera just like regular 2D media using the familiar drag-and-drop interface. You can even add a 360° background that appears outside the projected image. New tools in the 3D palette, such as Edge Mask, allow you to adjust the field of view captured by the URSA Cine Immersive camera to exclude microphones or other objects that are at the edge of the shot.

In Fusion, you can create 3D titles and graphics for broadcast that move within the field of view, or work with USD files for spatial video effects. Familiar tools such as patcher and distort have been updated to work seamlessly with spatial video. DaVinci Resolve is the first editing software in the world that can mix and master spatial audio in Apple Spatial Audio Format (ASAF). This update also adds support for AI Magic Mask 2 in Fusion, which allows you to select and track people, objects, and their features with much greater accuracy with a single click.

The update also brings improvements to the keyframe panel, making animation faster and more intuitive. Easing behavior has been adjusted across multiple keyframes, ensuring smoother transitions and more consistent results in both the timeline and inspector. Curve visibility has been improved so you can edit them directly from the keyframes or curves panel without having to switch views.

MultiText has also been improved—you can now style individual letters or words with different fonts or colors. In addition, paragraph-level formatting can be applied, such as left, center, or right alignment and indentation. CSV files can be imported directly and will be automatically organized into MultiText text fields aligned in columns for easy formatting and layout.

Fusion Studio 20.1

This update improves immersive video workflows with a new menu for 360º views and new immersive patcher and immersive distort tools. These tools let you edit the shape and appearance of spatial shots as easily as regular video, making it much easier to create content for formats such as Apple Vision Pro. The result is a faster and more intuitive workflow for spatial and immersive video in Fusion. This Fusion update includes the same MultiText and AI Magic Mask 2 feature enhancements as DaVinci Resolve 20.1 mentioned above ⬆️
