The Convergent Design engineering team has been hard at work, bringing more powerful features and functionality to the Odyssey family of professional monitor/recorders. This free firmware update for Odyssey7Q+, Odyssey7Q and Odyssey7 includes new features, functionality and fixes for all three Odyssey models:

Panasonic has announced the immediate availability of the AW-UE70, the professional video industry's first integrated 4K pan/tilt/zoom camera. The UE70 delivers 3840 x 2160 resolution images at 29.97p/25p via HDMI, and is also capable of 4K IP streaming and in-camera 4K recording. The UE70 also offers key production-oriented features such as genlock, Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S), 1300 lines of horizontal resolution and remote switchable ND filters. The camera’s flexible 4K/HD capabilities make it a good choice for demanding installations in stadiums, conference rooms, lobbies, auditoriums and retail, where ultra-high resolution video and precise control are required.

Panasonic has announced that a firmware upgrade for its AG-DVX200PJ 4K large-sensor, 4/3” handheld camcorder is available now. The upgrade, free to DVX200 customers, is labeled Ver. 1.25 and can be downloaded here. The Ver. 1.25 upgrade encompasses several feature improvements and additions:

  • A fast scan mode has been added to the menu options for 4K24p, UHD29.97p, UHD23.98p and UHD25p recording modes to minimize potential skewing.
  • Color reproduction at higher brightness levels is improved to accommodate ranges of skin tones.
  • Potential black dot noise in 4K/UHD has been reduced.
  • Playback image aspect ratio has been corrected so that an image is properly displayed in 16:9 when a 480i/576i SQUEEZE video is played.
  • ISO gain value display in high-sensitivity mode has been improved (menu bug fix).

Grass Valley released an Open Beta version of Open FX bridge for EDIUS 8. The first release of the OFX Bridge supports Sapphire from GenArts, Magic Bullet Looks from Red Giant, and Beauty Box from Digital Anarchy. Over time, support to other Open FX plug-ins will be extended. If you want to use a plug-in which has separate installer package for each OpenFX platform, it is recommended that you select the package which is compatible with DaVinci Resolve (64-bit).
