Tilta 95mm Stackable Circular Filter Tray for Mirage Matte Box

The Tilta MB-T16-SCF stackable tray replaces the rubber sun hood of the Mirage matte box and adds room for one more 95 mm circular filter in front of the lens. An effect filter runs alongside the VND module, the rubber hood clips onto the front of the tray, and with the dual tray the Mirage holds up to four filters at once. Aluminum and stainless steel, with almost no added weight.

The Tilta 95mm Stackable Circular Filter Tray is a stackable tray for a 95 mm circular filter on the Mirage matte box. It takes the place of the rubber sun hood at the front of the matte box and opens one more filter slot — for an effect filter next to the VND module, a polarizer with the ND, or simply a second piece of glass you would rather not screw on.

In place of the hood, ahead of the other filters

The tray mounts on the front of the Mirage matte box in place of the rubber sun hood, and the hood then clips onto the tray, so you keep the shading. Any 95 mm circular filter slides into the slot — mist, streak or polarizer — and sits in front of the VND module, which keeps its own place in the matte box. Only one stackable tray fits per matte box; with the dual tray the build has room for up to four 95 mm filters.

Aluminum and stainless, a few dozen grams more

The tray frame is aluminum alloy with stainless steel parts, so the build stays light and a filter change takes a second — the glass slides in and clicks into place just as in the basic Mirage tray. Expect vignetting on wide lenses: with the stackable tray fitted, work from 35 mm on full frame and from 24 mm on Super 35. A VND module inserted in the stackable tray slot cannot take the wireless motor, and the Mirage motor power supply cannot be used with the tray.

The Tilta Mirage matte box

Mirage is a lightweight matte box for 95 mm circular filters: it mounts to the lens with an adapter ring matching the filter thread, filters sit in stackable trays and an optional wireless motor turns the VND module. The parts of the Mirage family combine — rings, trays, VND, 15 mm rod support and hood all belong to the same matte box, including this one.
