Tilta 15mm LWS Support for Mirage Matte Box

The Tilta MB-T16-LS support holds the Mirage matte box on two 15 mm LWS rods instead of clamping it to the lens. It belongs where every gram does not matter and a firmer connection to the camera is wanted, or with lenses the Mirage cannot clamp onto. Locating pins stop the matte box from rotating, the rod clamp tightens with a single thumb screw, and the aluminum and stainless steel part adds only minimal weight to the build.

The Tilta 15mm LWS Support for Mirage is a 15 mm LWS rod support that moves the Mirage matte box from the lens to the cage. Mirage normally clamps straight onto the lens, which is light and quick — but with heavier filter stacks, on lenses without a suitable front, or in a rig that already has rods, a firm hold on the rods is the safer option.

Matte box on the rods, not on the lens

The support screws to the underside of the Mirage matte box and a pair of 15 mm LWS rods runs through its clamp, so the weight of the matte box and filters is carried by the cage, not the front of the lens. Anyone shooting with the VND module, a stacked tray and a motor at once will appreciate that — as will anyone using lenses the Mirage cannot clamp onto, where the matte box simply hangs on the rods in front of them. The lens also stays supported between camera and matte box.

Pins against rotation, one screw to tighten

Locating pins engage the matte box and hold it in the right position, so the Mirage does not twist on the rods even in fast moves. The rod clamp is secured with a thumb screw — the support goes on and comes off in a moment, no tools needed. The body is aluminum alloy with stainless steel parts, so the rigidity does not cost you weight.
