Sennheiser ewDP 835 R4-9

The Sennheiser EW-DP 835 SET is a fully digital UHF wireless system built to sit on a camera: an EW-DP EK single-channel receiver and an EW-D SKM-S handheld transmitter with the MMD 835 cardioid dynamic capsule — the sound of the e 835, the stage standard. Being digital, it delivers a dynamic range above 134 dB with 1.9 ms latency, so quiet speech and a shouted answer both land cleanly without riding the gain. The receiver scans the R4-9 range from 552 to 607.8 MHz with up to 56 MHz of tuning bandwidth, pairs over Bluetooth from the Smart Assist app and warns you through Smart Notifications when something needs attention. Components stack magnetically, and the mounting kit covers a cheese plate, cold shoe and belt clip. The transmitter runs up to 12 hours, the receiver 7, on the BA 70 pack charged over USB-C. Both output cables are included.

Set up from the phone, warned before it fails

The receiver pairs over Bluetooth with the Smart Assist app, so scanning for a clear frequency and setting levels happens on the phone instead of through a two-line display. Smart Notifications flag a weak battery, a dropping signal or a muted transmitter — while there is still time to fix it, rather than in post.

Stacks on the rig, ready for either input

The components are magnetically stackable and the mounting kit covers a cheese plate, a cold shoe and a belt clip, so the receiver goes where there is room. Both cables are in the box — locking 3.5 mm TRS for a mirrorless body and locking 3.5 mm to XLR for a professional camera — so no adapter is needed on the first shoot.
