Filled with pro features to take on any modern production, the V-160HD sets a new standard in hybrid event switching. Connect with live audiences in Full HD with comprehensive SDI and HDMI I/O and simultaneously stream to any popular web platform via USB-C. There’s also an eight-layer video effects engine, a 40-channel digital audio mixer, and integrated PTZ camera control, plus next-generation cue management and live show automation features that make tough production tasks simple. And everything’s all wrapped up in a portable design with a broadcast-style interface that’s easily handled by a single operator.

The V-160HD is a portable HD video switcher for hybrid events. It mixes eight SDI and eight HDMI sources in Full HD, feeds seven outputs including a USB-C stream, controls up to 16 PTZ cameras and, thanks to macros and the sequencer, can be run by a single operator.

Driver-free USB-C streaming

The USB-C output appears to a computer as a webcam (UVC/UAC) and sends Full HD at up to 60 fps to Zoom, Teams, YouTube or Facebook Live.

Up to 16 PTZ cameras

Direct control of select Canon, JVC, Panasonic, Sony, PTZOptics, Avonic and VISCA-compatible LAN cameras, with brands mixed freely. Presets can even be stored from a USB numeric keypad.

Yamaha DM3 integration

From Version 3.5 the V-160HD recalls Yamaha DM3 scenes and links faders, channel on/off and mute in both directions. Only IP addresses need to be set.

Automation for a single operator

30 preset memories, 100 macros and a sequencer with up to 1,000 steps prepare the whole show in advance. During the event you just press Next and every cue fires right on time.

The V-160HD supports HDMI for common A/V devices plus SDI for long cable runs and high-end cameras. Seamlessly mix eight HDMI sources and eight SDI sources in Full HD, even with mismatched frame rates and color spaces. And with built-in scalers on four of the HDMI inputs, you can easily interface with client-provided sources like computers, tablets, smartphones, gaming consoles, and legacy 4:3 devices.

With seven freely assignable outputs—including three SDI, three HDMI, and one USB-C streaming—the V-160HD puts a high-end video matrix at your command. Feed program displays, auxiliary monitors, multi-view producer displays, and the online audience at once, complete with a “clean” output left over for a recording feed.

Storing and recalling custom looks can be accomplished with just a few button presses on the V-160HD.

The V-160HD’s newly developed sequencer makes presets and macros even more powerful, allowing a single operator to execute perfectly timed cues with ease. Up to 1000 steps can be recorded in the sequencer, and each step can include both presets and macros. Simply set up your cues ahead of time in the sequence list and trigger them in order using the Next button on the panel. With the power of the V-160HD’s sequencer, you can tackle the most complex events without ever breaking a sweat.

Video effects and graphics are must-haves to bring polish and excitement to any production. The V-160HD’s newly updated chroma key engine features upgraded keyer algorithms and eight layers that can be assigned to the Program, Sub-Program, and three Aux outputs, so you’ll always keep audiences engaged with visually appealing content. With up to four picture-in-picture windows, downstream key layers, 16 still store slots with transparent PNG image support, and more, you can manage the creative needs of any client. For example:

Layers 1-2. : Start with a mixable live background video layer.
Layers 3-6: Place four picture-in-picture layers or chroma/luminance key effects.
Layers 7-8: Add two downstream keyers with support for fill and key inputs.

The Graphics Presenter software for Windows allows you to create stunning titles and graphics without the need for expensive third-party graphic presentation solutions. Setup with the V-160HD is quick and straightforward, requiring only a single HDMI connection to send fill and key signals from the computer to the switcher.

Graphics Presenter offers an intuitive workflow with a wide selection of ready-to-edit templates, including animated title text, sports scores, motion graphics, and more. The software and templates are available free of charge, and additional content is periodically provided for download on Roland Cloud.

The V-160HD uses the same connection technology as webcams,* allowing you to stream events at 23.98 to 60 FPS in Full HD** and reach a worldwide audience. Simply connect the USB-C output to a computer and start streaming with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, YouTube, Facebook Live, or any platform that can use a webcam as its source. Everything is plug and play, with no driver installation needed.

The V-160HD features a 40-channel digital audio mixer with studio-grade sound quality. Mix any embedded audio signal pair (1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8) from each of the 16 video inputs, microphones and line-level devices connected to the two balanced XLR combo and stereo RCA inputs, and USB-C audio. And with the convenience of onboard Bluetooth, it’s possible to wirelessly stream music and other sound sources from a phone or tablet as well. There’s also an extensive effects library for polishing sounds and quickly resolving common issues like audio synchronization and background noise removal.

Robotic PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras greatly expand your production capabilities. They provide extended coverage with studio-grade broadcast quality and can be placed in discreet locations thanks to their small size. The V-160HD includes built-in support to directly control select Canon, JVC, Panasonic, Sony, PTZOptics, Avonic, and VISCA-compatible PTZ LAN cameras. Mix and match different brands as you like and operate up to 16 PTZ cameras simultaneously. With the Version 3.0 update, you even set angles and save/recall presets with a USB numeric keypad.

Hybrid events. One console serves the audience in the room and viewers online, and can send each of them a different picture.

Seven outputs. Three SDI, three HDMI and the USB-C stream can be freely assigned to program, Aux buses, preview and multi-view.

Macros and presets. Up to 100 macros combine switching, DSK, PinP, audio mixing, waits and loading one of 30 preset memories.

Eight layers. The PGM/PST background, four keyable PinP layers and two DSKs can be assigned to the Program, Sub-Program and Aux outputs.

Video routing. Each output connector can carry program, sub-program, preview, Aux, DSK or a multi-view with 16 inputs or 16 stills.

Audio from many sources. The 40-channel mixer takes XLR/RCA, embedded SDI and HDMI audio, USB-C and Bluetooth, with an extensive effects library.

Graphics and replay. Graphics Presenter adds titles and stinger transitions, the P-20HD adds instant replay and slow motion (V-160HD Version 3.20 or later).

Crops from one 4K camera. From Version 3.3 the V-160HD switches ROI windows on the VC-100UHD scaler over LAN using user buttons, macros, a numeric keypad, GPI or a footswitch.
