One box for camera signal and communication

One 12G-SDI input and one 12G-SDI output work with 16 channels of embedded audio. Talkback runs on channels 15/16 in both SDI and 2110 IP video; LED indicators show IP and SDI signal lock and tally status.

Talkback for the camera operator

On the side there is a 5-pin XLR for talkback headphones with microphone plus volume and Push to Talk buttons, so the camera operator talks to the control room without a separate communication converter. The SDI output returns the program image to the camera.

Power from PoE++ or a 12V power supply

The 10G Ethernet RJ-45 port carries 2110 IP video and the converter can draw PoE++ power from it. Alternatively there is a locking 12V DC input; power usage is 18 W. Setup and updates use USB-C.

Bringing SDI equipment into IP operation

Blackmagic Design offers a wide range of SMPTE-2110 IP video products – converters, video monitors, audio monitors and even cameras. They use 10G Ethernet for Ultra HD work; the miniature 2110 IP Mini models are easy to hide behind equipment, while the rack mount models have an LCD display for monitoring, menus and diagnostics.

Blackmagic 2110 IP converters integrate SDI equipment into an SMPTE ST-2110 infrastructure. The standard specifies the transport, synchronization and description of 10-bit video, audio and ancillary data over IP. The converter can re-sync the SDI input to the PTP clock and supports SD, HD and Ultra HD up to 2160p60. In a network, connections can be managed via NMOS like a virtual router; in simple installations it also works point to point without a complex network switch.

10G Ethernet allows compact and efficient IP products. For uncompressed 10-bit Ultra HD above 30 frames per second, the range uses the open Blackmagic IP10 codec with a low latency of 8 samples and no license fees. This model uses 10G Ethernet RJ-45 and supports PoE++ power.
