This compact converter brings SMPTE ST 2110 video and audio to an HDMI monitor or TV. Its standard SFP position accepts a 10G optical Ethernet module for distant displays.

IP input, HDMI picture

One 10G SMPTE ST 2110 input carries video and up to 16 channels of embedded audio. The converter provides one HDMI output for direct monitoring in HD, Ultra HD and DCI 4K formats up to 60p.

Unlike the copper version, this exact model is not RJ45/PoE++: it uses an SFP socket for optical 10G Ethernet and the included external 12V DC supply.

For managed broadcast infrastructure

The unit conforms to SMPTE ST 2110-20, -21, -30 and -40. PTP v2/ST 2059 provides timing, while NMOS IS-04/IS-05 supports discovery and connection management in a managed IP facility.

For higher-frame-rate Ultra HD, Blackmagic IP10 provides an open, low-latency codec without licence fees.

How it fits into a 2110 IP facility

The original product material correctly explains that SMPTE ST 2110 defines transport and synchronization of 10-bit video, audio and ancillary data across managed IP networks. Ten-bit processing matters in broadcast workflows where faithful image reproduction is essential.

Blackmagic 2110 IP products support PTP and NMOS, allowing them to operate as part of a virtual video router. Larger systems can connect through an Ethernet switch and be configured in the network, while the compact 2110 IP Mini can be hidden behind a display.

The range uses readily available 10G Ethernet. This SFP model is for optical modules and long runs; it also supports 3G, 6G and 12G optical SDI SFP modules for conventional SDI-video compatibility.
