Convert and power up to 4x 2110 IP cameras or converters. The bidirectional 4-channel 12G-SDI 2110 IP converter includes a control panel with an LCD display and supports HD and Ultra HD standards up to 2160p60.
This rack-mount converter connects up to four 12G-SDI sources to an IP infrastructure and simultaneously powers connected Blackmagic cameras or converters via 10G RJ-45. Each channel operates bidirectionally, up to Ultra HD 2160p60.
Blackmagic Design offers a wide range of SMPTE-2110 IP video products, including converters, video monitors, audio monitors, and even cameras. Furthermore, they support Ultra HD resolutions using cost-effective 10G Ethernet. Most converter models are bidirectional, making them ideal for use with cameras when users need an additional channel for return feed. Rack-mount models feature a sleek design with a color LCD display for monitoring, menu navigation, and diagnostics. All models comply with the SMPTE ST-2110 standard for IP video, including PTP synchronization, and even support NMOS, allowing users to establish connections via a video router panel. Blackmagic’s SMPTE-2110 IP video products come in various form factors depending on their intended use. The 2110 IP Mini models are compact, allowing them to be hidden behind other equipment. Meanwhile, the rack-mount models feature sleek front panels with LCD displays, enabling users to adjust settings directly from the front panel.
Blackmagic 2110 IP converters are designed to integrate SDI equipment into an IP 2110 video infrastructure. By adding these converters, users gain an affordable way to upgrade all their video equipment to SMPTE-2110 technology. Simply add a Blackmagic 2110 IP converter to production consoles, disk recorders, streaming processors, cameras, monitors, and other devices. Blackmagic 2110 IP products comply with the SMPTE ST-2110 standard for IP video, which specifies the transmission, synchronization, and description of 10-bit video, audio, and auxiliary data over IP networks. It can also resynchronize SDI inputs to PTP or lock external devices to a reference output, which is also generated from a PTP synchronization signal. Blackmagic 2110 IP converters support 10-bit video for maximum image quality and SD, HD, and Ultra HD standards up to 2160p60. The converters automatically switch to the new video standard when the input changes; multi-channel models can also operate a different video standard on each channel.
Blackmagic 2110 IP converters are available in models with RJ-45 connectors for traditional Cat6 cables or with SFP slots for optical modules. Using Cat6 cables allows for the creation of SMPTE-2110 systems at significantly lower costs. The cables are easy to manufacture, and 10G Ethernet switches are widely available. One of the biggest challenges with SMPTE-2110 technology is the need to have an IT technician on standby to keep the IP video system running. Blackmagic IP transmitters solve this problem because they can be connected in point-to-point mode, so users do not have to use a complex Ethernet switch if they do not want to. This allows them to enjoy the benefits of SMPTE-2110 IP video—including simple Ethernet cables, remote power, and bidirectional video—without the need for a complex switch.
When working in larger SMPTE-2110 ecosystems, such as in broadcast, users can connect all their video equipment to an Ethernet switch. In this case, users simply plug everything into the Ethernet switch and then establish connections between devices using its configurator, much like a traditional video router. Blackmagic 2110 IP products also support the NMOS protocol: configuration is more complex, but it offers great flexibility. Thanks to the NMOS interface, all 2110 IP devices can work together as a large virtual router; Videohub Smart Control also allows for the routing of video sources within 2110 IP networks, as it can function as an NMOS controller.
Thanks to the use of 10G Ethernet, Blackmagic SMPTE-2110 IP video products can be smaller, more energy-efficient, and more affordable. Furthermore, 10G Ethernet can enable remote power delivery to the products. However, when using Ultra HD resolution at frame rates exceeding 30 frames per second, there isn’t sufficient bandwidth available for uncompressed 10-bit video. The Blackmagic IP10 codec solves this problem! It has a low latency of 8 samples, is an open standard, and carries no licensing fees. Furthermore, it is an optimized, low-overhead codec that uses very little FPGA power, ensuring that compatible SMPTE-2110 products remain affordable!
