Roland V-8HD

The versatile, portable and reliable Roland V-8HD brings creative options to live event switching. Its all-in-one hardware design eliminates computer setup hassles and software crashes, while the HDMI workflow streamlines production.

The Roland V-8HD is a compact HD video switcher for live events. It mixes eight HDMI sources even with mismatched frame rates and colour spaces, has scalers on inputs 7 and 8 for computers and tablets, offers three HDMI outputs including a separate AUX and weighs just 2 kg.

Eight HDMI inputs

Cameras, computers, tablets, game consoles and legacy 4:3 devices. Inputs 7 and 8 have scalers for computer resolutions up to 1920 × 1200, and input 8 also accepts a Roland FILL+KEY signal.

Fits in a backpack

The 317 × 193 × 70 mm console weighs 2 kg and can also run on an external battery. It still has a solid T-bar and full hands-on controls.

Hands-free switching

BOSS FS-5U, FS-6 or FS-7 footswitches can trigger over 100 commands: cut to a still image, bring PinP on or off, drop in a title or switch the AUX output.

A separate AUX output

Send any input to the AUX output for a presenter confidence monitor, a livestream or a recording without touching the main programme. Synced with the programme it works as a built-in 1:2 distribution amp, and with the UVC-01 it feeds streams to YouTube, Facebook, Twitch or Zoom.

Up to eight sources. Eight HDMI inputs take camcorders, game consoles, computers and smart devices; inputs 7 and 8 also convert computer resolutions.

Five video layers. A PST/PGM background, two keyable PinP windows and a DSK for titles and logos are composited into the final programme.

Scene memories. A stored look including all layers is recalled with a single button on the panel or in the V-8HD Remote app for iPad.

Control with VenuSet. The VenuSet app for iPadOS, macOS and Windows connects to the V-8HD over USB and lets you build your own control panel.
