Review: Mars Gaming MSD-PRO

The Mars Gaming MSD-PRO is a control deck with 10 LCD keys, a touch display and four rotary dials. We tried it out for live streaming as well as video editing.

It takes up just 137 × 124 mm of desk space, so it fits next to the keyboard or under the monitor. The tilting base holds the deck at a comfortable angle and the rubber underside keeps it from sliding.

Pressing an LCD key2 / 6

Ten LCD keys show your own icons, static or animated GIFs. One press launches an app, switches an OBS scene, mutes the microphone or plays a sound effect.

The four dials turn a full 360° and can also be pressed to switch their function. The touch display above shows the current value, such as volume or microphone gain.

It is not just for gamers. The Windows and macOS software lets you set up profiles for editing, graphics or office work, and smart scenes switch automatically to match the app you are using.

The base houses a USB hub with 2× USB 3.0 and 1× USB-C for a microphone, camera or drive. The ports are for data only and cannot charge devices. The deck connects to the computer with a USB-C cable (1.5 m), and a USB-A adapter is included.
