Panasonic update: LUMIX S Series and LUMIX Flow

Panasonic has just introduced new firmware updates for its full-frame mirrorless cameras LUMIX S1RII, S1II, and S1IIE, which aim to improve the hybrid photography experience and add new features. Along with the camera firmware update, an update to the Lumix Flow app has also been released.All updates are available from November 26, 2025, via the LUMIX Global Customer Support website and app stores.

  • Improved thermal control algorithm for longer recording times: The thermal control algorithm has been improved so that recording times are less affected by environmental factors.
  • Addition of a slower speed option for SH burst sequence: A lower speed option, including PreBurst shooting, has been added to the SH sequence.
  • AF improvements: Auto-detection frames for the main subject only can now be set to display when using autofocus. The AF frame for human eye detection can be set to 'rectangular' when using autofocus. Improved tracking AF stability thanks to algorithm improvements.
  • Added video functions: The low-bit video format "MP4(Lite)" can now be selected.
  • Improved compatibility: Compatibility with our S-R100500 interchangeable lenses and teleconverter.
  • Support for LUMIX smartphone app, LUMIX Flow version 1.4: External monitor function allows you to apply LUT to live view, display multiple image formats, and display focused images.

Other feature improvements:

  • An icon indicating that the preview effect is disabled will appear on the shooting screen when [Live View] is set to [OFF].
  • ISO Auto can be set in the [ISO Display Settings] menu in the Custom menu.
  • An error where the quality of the live view differed between standby mode and movie recording mode when applying false color has been fixed.
  • A 1.6x display has been added for the Anamorphic Desqueeze display.
  • The base ISO sensitivity is now visible on the ISO sensitivity setting screen when Dual Native ISO is set to AUTO.
  • The default setting for functions registered to the sub video rec. button has been changed to "No Setting" in both shooting mode and playback mode.
  • The processing time for focus stacking has been improved thanks to an algorithm refinement.
  • A menu has been added that allows you to display a live preview with the same quality in both standby mode and video recording mode.
LUMIX smartphone app, LUMIX Flow version 1.4
  • LUT display support – Live LUT display is available in the app and can be turned on or off.
  • Support for displaying multiple image formats – the same image formats that are displayed on the camera are transferred to the app as a live preview.
  • Improved AF frame display for various recognition in auto detection
