New HDV camcorders and recorders from Sony will be available within the next year.
Sony's new HDV cameras should feature interchangeable lenses (the base should include a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar™ T* universal HD lens with 12x zoom), incorporate a tri1/3 ClearVid CMOS Sensor™ and Exmor™ image enhancement technology.
Also new will be the ability to attach a lens from a Sony α digital SLR (DSLR-A100 or DSRL-A700) to these cameras (on both the HVR-Z7E and HVR-S270E) using a special adapter.
The Sony HVR-Z7E will have a handycam design and will record on classic miniDV cassettes. The Sony HVR-S270E
will have a shoulder-mount design and, in addition to recording on classic DV tapes, will also be able to record on CompactFlash® memory modules.
Both cameras should be able to record video in progressive 1080 (24p and 30p), and using Sony's EIP technology, the cameras will be able to produce true 1080p images that can be recorded in HDV format. DV and DVCAM™ formats will also be supported.
DV/HDV recorder/player will support HDV 1080 (60i/50i/24p/30p/25p) and DV/DVCAM™ (60i/50i) formats. In addition to FireWire input/output, the HVR-M35E will also have SD/HD-SDI output with embedded audio.
